2 June 2016

Dear Colleagues:

Welcome to the 2016 Faculty Development in International Business – Globalization
Workshops!

This annual event, designed for those of us who have a passion for teaching
international business, is now a great tradition sponsored by a consortium of CIBERs –
federally designated centers of excellence in international business. Each year, dozens
of faculty gather to inspire each other about teaching, learn about latest classroom
innovations, and update their pedagogical toolbox.

This year, we have introduced several new features which we believe will enhance your
faculty development experience:

 Three plenary sessions have been added: insights from master teachers;
instructional technology, and teaching the introductory IB course;

 A poster session where participants will showcase their classroom innovations
and experiences; and

 Additional ‘bonus’ workshops on Sunday.

Continued are thematic workshops taught by world-class faculty leaders. These
workshops address contemporary content, pedagogy, and resources for teaching
specific IB courses.

I take this opportunity to recognize all those who made this event possible:
 A gifted GSU-CIBER team whose skills and effort are unmatched;
 Dr. Timothy Duvall, Senior Program Officer, at the U.S. Department of Education;
 Our partners in the CIBER Consortium for MSIs (Minority Serving Institutions):
Georgia State, Brigham Young, George Washington, Indiana, Michigan State,
Temple, Texas A&M, Colorado-Denver, Maryland, Miami, and Texas-Austin.

We hope that you fully take advantage of this professional development opportunity.
