Welcome

“A New Year at Galilee”
By Pastor Jason Duley
I am so happy to welcome you to Galilee.
Whether you are new to our church or a
longtime member, you’re going to find many
ways to learn about God, to worship and
serve Him, and to serve your community at
Galilee.
At Galilee, we believe that we are ordinary
people called to an extraordinary purpose: to know Christ and make Christ
known. We’re a church that is home to our United Methodist congregation.
We’re also a preschool and a community center that hosts recovery and support
groups, maintains a pantry for our Backpack Buddies feeding program, opens its
gymnasium to sports leagues and competitions, and serves as a headquarters
for scouting and civic groups. We do all this with one thing in mind: to open the
door for the transformation of lives that comes by knowing Christ.
No doubt, the best way to get involved at Galilee is by joining a small group.
Small groups are the heart and soul of any successful church, and I’m pleased
to say that we’ll have more active groups going in 2018 than ever before. You’ll
find them listed in this bulletin. Make sure you investigate new groups like Civil
Christianity (Weds 7pm), The Best Yes (Fri 9:15am), and the Galilee Book Club
(last Sunday of the month, 5:30pm).
Also, you’ll be hearing a lot about Next Level Innovations in 2018. We just voted
to enact Five Innovations and we will begin that process this month. You can
get more information on our Facebook page and on our website.
We hope you make Galilee your church home by worshipping with us on
Sundays at 9 and 11, and join us for the Grow Hour filled with small groups
that happens between services.

Children’s Ministry

Kids love showing off what they can do and are full of “WATCH THIS!” moments. In
January, Children’s Ministry will explore the theme of “WATCH THIS!” as we do a few
impressive things so we can lead them to the ONE who can do ANYTHING! The goal for
this month is to learn that Jesus is the one to watch, because JESUS CAN DO ANYTHING!

Bottom Line:

Jesus can do anything.

Memory Verse:

“With God all things are possible.”

Matthew 19:26, NIV

Scripture Bible Story Story Focus
Week ONE Luke 5:1-7 Catching Fish Jesus Can do things we can’t.
Week TWO Matt. 14:22-33 Walking on Water Jesus can do what is impossible
Week THREE Mark 6:31-44 Feeding 5,000 Nothing is too hard for Jesus
Week FOUR John 2:1-11 Water to Wine Jesus can do anything.

Old Testament points toward the coming of Christ and God’s big plan for us. We will also
review the Big Picture Bible and how the story takes shape that is accessible for our kids.

Monday Women’s Evening Group

Led by Mary Ellen VanNederynen
6:30pm - Adult Flex
Join us for dinner and study.

Journey inside the pages of Scripture to meet a personal God
who enters individual lives and begins a creative work from
the inside out. Shaped with the individual in mind, Immersion
encourages simultaneous engagement both with the Word of
God and with the God of the Word to become a new creation in
Christ.

Immersion, inspired by a fresh translation--the Common English
Bible--stands firmly on Scripture and helps readers explore the
emotional, spiritual, and intellectual needs of their personal
faith. More importantly, they’ll be able to discover God’s revela-
tion through readings and reflections.

Meet the Pastors

REV. JASON DULEY - SENIOR PASTOR
My name is Jason Duley – it’s great to meet you!
Let me tell you what I believe. I believe the best life is one
that’s got meaning. I believe that God has given every person an
extraordinary purpose.
There was a time when I was living less purposefully, following
my own agenda. God called me into ministry in order to serve
the needs of others. And guess what? Serving God and helping
people has become the most fulfilling life I can imagine.
As a pastor of an active church, I get energy out of helping
people connect with God, with one another, and with their life’s
purpose.
I invite you to connect with Galilee and to connect with me. Hit
me on social media (facebook.com/jason.duley.944) or simply
pick up the phone and call.
[email protected]

REV. MAT THEW SERGENT - ASSOCIATE PASTOR
My call to ministry began early in life. I’m a pastor’s son, after all.
But it had to wait as I spent twenty years in law enforcement,
rising to Police Captain. In my career, I dealt with many senseless
and violent crimes. I found myself reaching out to victims, trying
to help them make sense out of horrible situations. In essence,
I was being the hands and feet of Christ even in my role as a
police officer. I also saw the results, in many offenders, of living a
life outside the love of God. There were times when I was reach-
ing out to minister to them as well.
I am grateful now to be working as a pastor at Galilee and the
Chapel at Lansdowne Woods. I believe my greatest usefulness
as a minister is my witness and love for the Good News of the
Gospel. I love to tell the story of Christ’s love for us all, just as my
elders told me when I was young.
