January 2020 Newsletter

January 2020

Lawthorn Primary School

Newsletter

Term 3: January - April 2020

Dear Parents/Carers,
Happy New Year! I hope you all had a happy and peaceful holiday.

School Uniform
We are extremely proud of our school and the children
who represent it. It is lovely to see children wearing the
school uniform, setting high standards and presenting as
positive role models for our whole school community. Recently
however, some children have been attending school wearing
jogging trousers and hooded jumpers. I would therefore like to
appeal to all parents and carers to ensure children are wearing their
uniform at all times. This can be school trousers or skirt, the school
polo shirt and jumper or a white shirt with the school tie. Thank
you for your continued support.

Water Bottles
Please can I remind all parents/carers that children will only be
permitted to drink water during class time? Thank you for your
support.

Early Years Class Care Inspection
Our Early Years Class was inspected by Care Inspectorate
on Wednesday 20th and Thursday 21st November 2019.
The focus of the visit was the quality of care and support and the
quality of the environment, for which we received grades of ‘very
good’. The full report will be available to view online and in our EYC
in the near future.

P1-3 Nativity
We hope you enjoyed our P1-P3 Nativity. All our staff were
extremely proud of the children for their fabulous
performance of Hosanna Rock.

Christmas Fayre
Thank you to all parents and carers for your kind donations and
support with our Christmas Fayre. We raised an enormous profit of
£2300.

School Pantomime
Our first whole school visit to see Snow White was a huge success,
with all children representing the school really well. I would like to
say a massive thank you to all parent helpers who donated their
time and helped to make the trip successful.

Early Years & P1 Registration
Registration for Primary 1 will take place on Tuesday 14th January
2020 from 9.30-10.30 and 1.30-2.30 in Lawthorn Primary School.
Please note that you must register at the catchment primary school
for your address. If you are unsure about your catchment school,
please speak to a member of the school office, who will be able to
help you.

Registration for Early Years will take place on Tuesday 4th February
2020 from 9.30-10.30 and 1.30-2.30 in Lawthorn Primary School.

Target Setting Drop-in
We would like to invite you to attend a target setting drop-in
session on Wednesday 29th January 2020 between 3.15 and 5.15.
This is an opportunity to discuss your child’s targets for literacy,
numeracy and health and wellbeing for this term. No appointments
are necessary, however if you wish to discuss any
personal matters with the class teacher, please
contact the school and we will be happy to arrange an
alternative meeting.

P6 Burns Supper
Our P6 Burns Supper will take place on Wednesday 5th
February 2020. Already our P6 classes have been
industrious in planning and organising the event. We hope that all
P6 children and parents will be able to attend on the night.

Valentine’s Disco
The children are invited to attend a school
Valentines disco on Thursday 13th February.
Further details will be provided by the Parent
Council in the near future.

Disney Musicals
Our P7 children and teachers are looking forward to
our first visit from The Scottish Opera on Friday 10th
January. Look out for updates via Twitter.
