Say hello to the thirteen

colonies!

A colony is a group of land that was So why did people leave their

good soil to plant, and the southern
colonies were known for good weather for
planting.

The colonies were ruled by the british.
The colonies had no say in the government,
and the colonists had to still live under
british rule. At first living in the colonies
was hard, but then towns grew bigger, and
people got used to the new creatures that
were not living in europe.

My parent’s clothing

My dad wears many things, on his head he
wears a tricorn hat. My Mom wears a bonnet
on her head.

My dad wears an undershirt called a
cravat. My Mom wears something similar, but
it’s different, it’s called the shift the shift was
a dress like a under shirt.

My dad wears over the cravat a waistcoat,
the waistcoat was like a shirt. My Mom wears
over the shift a stay. My Mom says it’s used to
help with posture. She also says it’s very
uncomfortable.

My dad wears over the waistcoat a coat, it
had many buttons. My Mom wears over the stay
a petticoat the petticoat was a skirt that was
seen through the opening of the gown.

Both my Mom and dad wear stockings

At last my Mom wears the gown a
beautiful dress. The opening in the front shows
the petticoat. It’s very beautiful.

Come to school with me!

Now it’s time for me to go to school. School is a
very important thing here. Here’s some things we
learned, arithmetics, cursive/handwriting, and religion. I
know that you learn more than that. you learn math,
science, writing, reading, social studies, and word study.

At school we only have one room, and one
classroom for the whole school, but you have a big
school, and separate classes for different grades. At my
school Mrs.Miracle stands on a podium, but at your
school your teacher stands on the ground.

My friend Rebecca has already left school that’s
because girls leave school once they can read and write
then go home to help the mom, but the boys stay in
school for three years before returning to help the dad.
I know you guys have the same amount of school for
girls and boys, and you have more school.

Also most people got homeschooled, because they
did not have enough money.

Our schools may be different, but we all have one
goal to all do our best, and learn lot’s!

Come work with my family and my

friends! new act the stamp act.

There is many jobs that our colonies have
to help out with. Here’s most of them.

My Dad is a blacksmith he makes iron and
steel for the town. He also sometimes fixes
the iron or steel when it breaks.

My Uncle is a silversmith he makes the
silver wear for the town.

My Dad owns some slaves they work as
brickmakers. My Dads friend Jim works with
them although he is not one of them. They
make bricks for the towns houses.

My grampa is a surveyor. That means he
makes the maps of the colony. He has lived
here a long time, so he knows this place very
well.

My older brother is a printer. He prints
newspapers, and other printed papers. Less
people have been buying them, because of the

More work

My Mom is a apothecary. She helps
people when there sick, but not all the
apothecary’s do that. Their main job is to
make and sell medicines.

My friend, James's dad works as a
cobbler. He makes shoes for everybody,
but not every shoemakers do that some
only make one type of shoe like just
girl shoes or just boy shoes.

James’s Mom is a milliner. She owns
the shop for clothing. She also helps
out with the making of the cloths. Only
girls were milliners.

My grandma is a chalendar. She
makes candles for the town. It’s a really
important job, because unlike you we
don’t have electricity.

My dad says that when I get to be
13 I get to be an apprentice.

The colonist rebelled

You might be wondering well why are we not ruled by After a little bit the king
the british anymore? Well like I said the colonist rebelled, realized that the sugar act money he
but why? was getting was not paying off the
debt, so he made another tax the stamp

did NOT want to be under british rule
The king had to do something, so he had a plan he would anymore.
