Rules & Regulations (For Events only):

Team size: Minimum- 10 Members; Maximum -20 members.
Recorded music and electronic instruments not allowed.
Any musical instrument has to be arranged by participants themselves.
Time limit: 25 minutes.

One back stage member can accompany the individual.

attempt to hurt sentiments of any particular community will be taken as a serious offence.
Time limit: 5 minutes.

Magnum Opus- Stage Play

Rules &Regulations:
Play could be in English, Hindi or Bi-lingual.
Team size: 15 members (including back stage crew and technical assistants). One team member
must be present with the light and one with the sound man during the performance.

A week before the event, the synapse of the play should be mailed to the organisers.
Time limit: empty to empty stage – 60 minutes. Time limit should be strictly followed.
Limited chairs and table would be provided. Any other props have to be arranged by participant
themselves. Participants have to inform us in prior about all the logistics required from our side
like number of tables and chairs etc.
All the teams must bring their music (if any) in mp3 format in a pen drive.

ABLAZE

The Group Dance Event
RULES FOR THE COMPETITION:-
Ahmedabad Auditions:

It will be conducted a week before the Main Event. Date and venue will be conveyed to you
through mail.
Registration of the whole team will be done before audition.
Each team will perform for duration of 3-4 minutes on the day of the audition.
The dance form selected during auditions can be carried forward to the final competition. But
minimum of two minutes of other form should be added in the finals.
Gandhinagar auditions:
Whole team must be present at PDPU campus at the time of auditions and during registration.
The audition dates will be conveyed to you through mail.
Each team will perform for duration of 3-4 minutes.
The dance form selected during auditions can be carried forward to the final competition. But
minimum of two minutes of other form should be added in the finals.

General Rules:
Team limit is maximum 16 members (includes dancers, make-up artists, technicians, etc.). Out
of them, minimum 6 and maximum 14 people should be there on stage at a time.
Registration fees of Rs.1000 per team need to be submitted before the auditions. This amount
will not be refunded even if the team does not qualify for the finals.
No use of Water, Colors, Fire and similar material is allowed on stage.
The props and equipments to be used during the dance must be well informed to the organizer
beforehand.
If any stunt or dance sequence might be hazardous, the organizers must be informed beforehand
so that necessary arrangements can be made.

Any requisites of the team must be asked for well before the performance (everything cannot be
provided).

The tracks must be submitted 2 hours before the performance.

Main Event (Finale):

The performance has to be of 7-10 minutes.

Each team should comprise of a maximum of 16 members, including technical members, make-
up artists, etc.

Minimum 6 and maximum 14 people should compulsorily be on stage at a time.

The dance form selected during auditions can be carried forward to the final competition. But
minimum of two minutes of other form should be added in the finals. Groups not performing
two minutes of other dance form will be disqualified.

The dance performance should have a theme. No theme leads to negative marking.

No use of Water, Colors, Fire and similar material on stage is allowed.

If any stunt or dance sequence might be hazardous, the organizers must be informed beforehand
so that necessary arrangements can be made.

Any requisites of the team must be asked for well before the performance. (Not everything
could be provided)

Judges’ decision will be the final decision and no questions regarding that shall be entertained.

The tracks must be submitted to the organizers 4 hrs before the performances start.

SOLO/DUET DANCE COMPETITION

Rules & Regulations:

GENERAL GUIDELINES

Every participant is required to bring their respective college identity cards and it‘s one photo
copy.

The song must be submitted on a pen drive and ONLY IN THE MP3 at least 2Hrs BEFORE
THE FINALS.

While submitting the song/soundtrack, it’s the responsibility of the participant to make sure that
the soundtrack is saved by the correct name of participant and his/her college and in the correct
slot number. It’s also the responsibility of the participant to verify whether the soundtrack plays
without any error once copied onto the system.

In case the props (only tables and chairs) are needed the organizers must be informed
ATLEAST 4 DAYS before the dance event.

Judges’ result will be final.

Any sort of nuisance back stage will lead to immediate disqualification.

Vulgarity on the stage is strictly forbidden. On doing so; may lead to direct disqualification.

Fire or any colourful materials like Gulal etc. are NOT allowed on stage.

Participants have to take care of their own props. The Organising Committee won’t be
responsible for any mishap, or the missing of the props.

In case of any kind of dispute or confusion or misunderstanding, the decision of the organizers
and the judges shall be final.

JHANKAAR (Indian Dance – Classical/Folk)

Preliminary rounds will subject to the number of entries.
Time limit for preliminaries will be min. 1 minute and max. 2 minutes.

3. Every correct answer warrants two points, every passed question warrants no marks and

every wrong answer get marked down i.e. one negative mark.
4. In case of a tie, there will be a tiebreaker round to decide the winner.

The Debate Championship

Format:

For this year’s debate championship at Flare’17, DebSoc will be following the British
Parliamentary style of Debating. The British Parliamentary debate format differs from
many other formats because it involves four teams rather than two. Two teams, called
the “First Proposition” and the “Second Proposition” teams, are charged with the
responsibility of supporting the proposition while two other teams, “First Opposition”
and “Second Opposition,” are charged with opposing it.

Two speakers represent each of the four teams and each speaker gives a speech of seven
minutes. The following chart describes the basic format and time limits. As you will see
from the chart, each speaker is given a unique title.

However, even then, the two teams would be competing against each other and

will be judged as separate teams to avoid duplicity of awards.
● The decision made by the jury would be final and remain unchallenged.

Maha Goshthi

Event Introduction: Maha Goshthi (open discussion) has been an important event for South
Block so far where an open debating and discussion culture is promoted. Since South Block is
the Society for Politics and Conflict Resolution, the topics of these debates and discussion range
from domestic politics to international politics. Rules of the event are as follows:
- The topics of discussion will be informed to the participants three days prior to the event.

Sample topics are “India’s Soft Power”, “India’s Counter-Terrorism Policy”, “America under
President Trump”, “Importance of Nuclear Energy”, etc.
- The participants will have to arrive at the venue 20 minutes prior to the event.
- In order to speak, the participants will have to raise hands.
- Disturbing another participants while they are speaking will lead to disqualification.
- Time limit for speakers : 1.30 minutes (subject to change)

Participants will be personally informed about any changes in the rules and the event via email

BATTLE OF BANDS

Rules and Regulations:

1. COMMON FOR AUDITIONS, AND MAIN EVENT
1) The songs should have Hindi/English lyrics, however refraining from a foreign language is
allowed.
2) Team Size: 3-8 members, At least 1 vocalist and 2 different instruments required (different
guitars counted individually); one percussion instrument is mandatory.
3) There will be negative marking for exceeding time limit.
4) Obscenity (at the discretion of the judges) of any kind is not allowed and will lead to
immediate disqualification.
5) Purely instrumental pieces are not allowed. At least 1 vocalist is compulsory.
6) In case of any dispute, the decision of the judges will be final and non-negotiable.
7) The registration fee is Rs. 500/- per band.

2. REGISTRATION PROCESS
1) The bands can register online through doc on At-mosh-sphere’s facebook page
(www.facebook.com/atmoshsphere).
2) The event date and other important information will be displayed on the website of FLARE
and

3) The bands are advised to keep checking the website and Facebook page regularly in case of
any changes.

3. DELHI AUDITIONS
1) The venue for auditions for “At-Mosh-Sphere 4.0” (Delhi) shall be taking place at the
location displayed on our facebook page along with the timings.
2) Bands have to report at the pre-allocated venue 15 minutes before time for the auditions.
3) Drum kit, and sound system will be provided by the organizers.
4) In case of any unruly behavior/misbheaviour with the organizing team, the defaulter band is
liable to be disqualified straightaway.
5) Time slot for each band will be around 10 minutes and 2 minutes for sound check (time
allotted is subject to change)
6) Only 1 band from the auditions will be shortlisted for finale.
4. AHMEDABAD AUDITIONS
1) The venue for auditions for “At-Mosh-Sphere 4.0” (Ahmedabad) shall be as displayed on
our facebook page a week prior to the auditions.
2) Bands have to report at the pre-allocated venue 15 minutes before time for the auditions.
3) Drum kit, and sound system will be provided by the organizers.
4) In case of any unruly behavior/misbheaviour with the organizing team, the defaulter band is
liable to be disqualified straightaway.
5) Time slot for each band will be around 10 minutes and 2 minutes for sound check (time
allotted is subject to change)

5. VIDEO ENTRIES
1) Bands can share links from Facebook or YouTube or Google drive. Or can directly send
videos to [email protected] or [email protected]. They must register
themselves on the Google Doc mentioned on the Facebook page of At-Mosh-Sphere.

2) The video should be authentic and should cover a live performance in which all participating

members are involved.

3) The minimum duration of your video entry must be 4 minutes. The audio should be clear.
4) One band from the video entries will make it to the finale.

5) The entries which are not selected in video category will also be eligible to participate in the
auditions.

6) The last date for video entries will be disclosed soon.

7) Registration fee of Rs. 500 shall be charged for each team of the band for winning band in
the “Video entries” category.

6. MAIN EVENT (Grand Finale)

The rules for the main event are same as those for the auditions, except the following changes:

1) Bands have to perform 1 song of their choice along with at least 1 original composition.

2) Time limit of performance for main event for participants is 15 minutes for performance and
3 minutes for sound check.

3) No more than 2 people are allowed to accompany the bands to the console.

7. HOSPITALITY:

1) Paid accommodation shall be provided to the bands if applied for in advance.

2) No accommodation shall be provided to the bands for the auditions of “At-MOSH-Sphere”

3) However, it will only be provided (for non-local bands) for the days of the fest.

4) All bands wishing to avail accommodation must contact the Hospitality In-charge well in
advance.

8. JUDGING CRITERIA

1) Quality of vocals – 15 marks

2) Instrumental prowess tightness – 30 marks

3) Synchronization – 40 marks

4) As a band impact on audience - 15 marks

CS 1.6:
1. Competition Method: 5 vs. 5 (Team Play, 5 players per team).
2. Victory Condition: The first team to win 16 rounds will be declared winner.
3. Official Maps: de_dust2, de_inferno, de_nuke a- There will be a toss to decide
which map to play. Winner eliminates 1 map and the opponent eliminates 1,
remaining map shall be played. There will be a knife round to decide the side

(CT\T). b- The Server Master will record the demo of the match (Quarter Final
onwards).

4. General Game Setting: Rounds: 30 Rounds (Max rounds format): Each Team
plays 15 rounds as Terrorists and 15 rounds as Counter-Terrorists.

5. Round Time: 1 minute 45 seconds.

6. C4 Timer: 35 seconds.

7. Players are expected to bring their gaming accessories. (Keyboard, Mouse-
optional)

8. Default skins must be used.

9. Any other use of map or program bugs can result in a warning at the minimum or
loss by default for the offending team after deliberation and decision by the board
of referees at its sole discretion.

10. Basic configuration files (CFG) will be allowed with no illegal scripts.

11. Final match will be “BEST OF THREE MAPS”

Unfair Practices Subject to Penalty:

A player can only be on one team, meaning that you cannot play for two different
clans in the competition.

Team members may communicate verbally if they are alive in the match or when
all team members are dead.

The player is deemed dead when the screen is completely faded to black. If a bug
occurs and the screen doesn't fade to black, the player is deemed dead three seconds
after he/she has fallen.

C4 must be installed at a viewable location. Installing C4 at a location where a
boost is required is allowed.

Silent C4 installation may result to disqualification.

Any use of the flash bang bug will result in a -3 round score for the offending team.
If the use of the bug is decided as unintentional, the game

Continues as normal.
Gay gun (Krieg 550 commando and D3/AU-1) and Shield are not allowed. Use of
these weapons results in -1 round score for the offending team.
Use of unfair but available scripts (e.g. silentrun, attack+use, centerview script,
norecoil script, etc.) will have the offending team disqualified with no further
consideration.
HLTV Proxy will join the game servers for Tournament Broadcast.

DOTA 2:
1) Game used: DOTA 2 (Steam version)
2) Competition method: 5 versus 5 (Team play, 5 players per team)
3) Game mode: Captain Mode (CM)
4) Sides: (Radiant / Dire; Ban first) will be announced before the match or decided
by a coin toss.
5) Victory condition: The first team to destroy the other team’s ancient (main
building).
6) Every team member must bring his/her own laptop during the event.

RESTRICTIONS:

1) The sharing of basic regeneration items, consumables, and gems are allowed.
Items shared may not be kept or used for any other purpose (i.e. reselling).
2) It is not allowed to purposefully suicide to drop item for another player.

3) Backdooring is allowed.
4) Any cheats, hacks or exploits are illegal and not allowed in play.
DISCONNECTIONS:
If any player disconnects during a match, the game will be paused (default is F9)
Until the player has reconnected. Pausing is not used for any other reason.

AMETHYST

REGISTRATON FEES: RS 100/MEMBER

Rules and Regulations:
Auditions round:
There will be 2 Audition rounds –
1st Audition to be held in Ahmedabad and 2nd in Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University,
Gandhinagar.
Only Individual participation is allowed.
The Registration fee is Rs100. This amount will not be refunded even if the Participant does not
qualify for the finals.
Incorrect information will result in disqualification whether discovered prior to during or after
participation.
The Participants should bring their College ID cards with them.
Participants are requested to check their event timings and venue well in advance.
Participants are required to wear heels while giving auditions.
No obscene language will be tolerated.
Use of materials like candles, matches, cigarettes, alcohol and any hazardous materials on stage
is prohibited.
Emphasis will be given to the Walk, Overall Attitude, Uniqueness, Personality, Stage Presence,
Poise, and Confidence.
Final 16 participants will be shortlisted. This Includes 8 Females and 8 Males.
The decision of the judges will be final in all cases.
Potential winners will be notified by email or telephone.
The regional round expenses (travel & stay) will have to be borne by the participant.
All Participants willing to avail accommodation must contact the Hospitality In-charge well in
advance.

Grooming or Training Process:
Drinking and smoking is prohibited inside the campus.
Contestants need to adhere to the choreography set by Choreographer.
Contestants are required to wear heels during training process.
No obscene language will be tolerated.
The applicant will have to participate in a disciplined and diligent manner throughout as per
Schedule given.
Minimum 1000Rs will be charged as caution money which will be refunded after the
completion of the event.

Main Event:
A green room would be provided for changing purpose.
Outfits will be provided by the Organizers only.
The decision of the judges will be final and binding in all cases.
If a finalist or winner cannot participate in any of the photo shoots, publicity events or any other
activities for or relating to the competition or prizes for whatsoever reason, then Organizers
have right to disqualify the finalist and appoint another Contestant as a replacement.
The Organizers are not responsible for any delays or non-receipt of applications on any account
and for any reason whatsoever.
The Organisers are not responsible if the sponsors do not make good the prizes promised by
them.
The Organisers are not responsible for any loss or physical injury that occurs to the applicant on
account of their participation in the event.
