Dear Friends, City Message

CITY Rialto has long been a city that promotes innovation and creativity.

MESSAGE Famed choreographer and dancer Twyla Tharp was raised in
Rialto. Director John Singleton once lived here. So have poets,
actors and musicians.

Businesses such as Pyro Spectaculars (fireworks), Martinez &
Turek (machinery) and Biscomerica Corp. (food processing)
have long been leaders in their fields, while our emerging distribution centers are helping to reshape
e-commerce and goods movement on a national scale.

On the municipal front, we’ve pioneered innovative public-private partnerships, public safety systems
and, most recently, water treatment technology that will save energy, land and money.

With all of this happening, the opportunity exists within our city to create a physical presence – a
hub, if you will – to promote innovation, creativity and collaboration at a level unseen at a city of our
size.

Could we replace our aging and inefficient City Hall complex with an innovation campus – one that
allows us to conduct the City’s business better than ever while incubating ideas to move us even more
boldly into the future? Imagine a collaborative environment – where systems data analytics, logistics
and social innovation – are developed by some of the best minds in the county.

By partnering with educational institutions, businesses and think tanks, the City of Rialto could
redefine how the public and private sectors work together for the betterment of all.

It’s just a thought at this point, but one we think makes a tremendous amount of sense in a world
more competitive, and complicated, than ever.

As we’ve proved over the years, Rialto has never been afraid to venture out – and our success rate has
been remarkable. We’ve also benefitted from the tremendous support of our residents, businesses and
community stakeholder, who, like us, see the future as something to embrace, not run away from.

We thank you for that, and look forward to building on our legacy as a community of innovation and
opportunity.
