When city officials wanted to create a multi-sports complex
for the residents of Taylor, Michigan, an idea was born.

History

• Groundbreaking began in December of 2000.

• Construction was completed in the summer of 2001.

• The award winning building plan was the
first of it’s kind to be built in the area.

• The entire complex is 146,958 square feet.

• There are four, 25,000 square foot activity
arenas, two of them have ice.

• The massive electronic sign board, was a first for the area.

• The Tax Increment Finance Authority and Taylor Building
Authority funded bonds to pay for the project. No tax increase
was needed to fund the Sportsplex.

• The $18.5 million state-of-the-art facility features two NHL-size
ice arenas, a soccer arena and a multi-purpose sports arena.

• At the time of construction, TSX was the only site to offer indoor
recreational soccer in Wayne County.

• Taylor Sportsplex was designed to incorporate several energy
conservation features.

TSX has a large capacity emergency generator
which helps reduce overall electrical cost. The
building can serve as disaster shelter, emergency
warming or cooling center.

►►This guarantees that those renting the facility will
have uninterrupted service even in the event of a
power outage.

Building Details - Interior

Rental skates, skate repair
and sharpening and a pro
shop featuring a complete line
of hockey, soccer and skating
equipment can be found in
the main lobby.
The lobby also includes a
concession area with ample
seating, space for additional
retail, a conference room,
administrative offices and the
Taylor Sports Hall of Fame.

The mezzanine level includes two large
lounge areas with seating and a spectator
gallery overlooking both ice arenas, and two
rooms that can be divided for small meetings
or used for birthday celebrations and other
social events.

dark and cold ice arenas.

Main Level Hockey Features:

Two NHL-sized ice arenas: one with 1,000 seats and the other with 300 seats
12 team rooms with showers and restrooms

- 8 large team rooms for daily use
- 2 high school or junior team rooms with equipment storage and coaches offices
- 2 women’s team rooms with showers and toilets
- Skating professionals locker area with individual lockers
- 2 referee rooms with lockers, toilets and showers

Main Level Soccer/Multipurpose Features:

The wall to wall multi-sport turf field house creates the feeling of being outdoors.
Turf/Inline/Multipurpose arena is capable of being converted for trade and collectible
shows, concerts, banquets and meeting space

Mezzanine Level Features:

Two large lounges with seating overlooking ice
One large meeting room (60-person capacity)
can be divided into 2 smaller rooms.
Spectator gallery overlooking both ice surfaces
Storage room for tables, chairs and meeting equipment

events in its multipurpose arena. We can assist with
