EDITOR’S LETTER

The 21st-century people are used to spend most
of their time in social media scrolls and are habit-
uated to stay updated regarding events occurring
across the globe. These handheld devices and in-
ternet technologies have taken the accessibility bar
for the people at the next level. A*nd yet, it’s get-

ting better each day.

Perhaps, this social media generation miss out the
voices and stories of the people residing around
them. That’s what our team at Korner aims for: A
better accessibility to the things happening in a lit-
tle corner of the world so that the cheers made at
the glories of that people do not remain unheard.

Our Series “Talk of the town” emphasize on fore-
most struggle and success stories of the individu-
als who’ve done something noticeable and have
kept an urge to improve every day. In every issue
published, we aim to interview prominent contrib-
utors and achievers about their journey, struggles,

and life lessons.

INSTEAD OF
WORRYING ABOUT

What if I tell you that sometimes stranger kicking you is good for you? Well
many of you won’t believe me because even I am stranger. But that’s the
scenario true for a football; player’s kick helps it to reach the goal. So your
hard work (For today’s generation smart work.), your practice and prepara-
tions are the kicks for you being football, which will help you to reach your
goal. Practice and preparation is something that we find in every successful
player. And in our city Surat there is a young, smart and really talented girl,
with all such skills, who has represented Gujarat in nationals and now is one
of the coach and co-founder of Surat United Club (Football) Ms. Khushi
Shah.

Thinking differently always leads to great experiences. And that is some-
thing that a winner like Khushi, is always seeking for. Khushi didn’t saw
those opportunities in a college life, so it was not so difficult for her to
eliminate that option. she was actually on a hunt for a different idea. And
on that hunt, she aimed her arrow to the idea of a football coaching club
in Surat. But as everyone know, aiming is not the end, it just a start. Your
focus and confidence is what the arrow takes to hit the target hard. And
Khushi was as focused as Arjun (in Mahabharata) was, while aiming the
eye of the bird. And of course such focus and confidence leads to suc-
cess. And today Khushi’s target (idea of football club) has more than 100
active players and out of which many have represented them in nationals.
Football club in Surat is definitely a great idea, but before all this, Khushi
was a player herself. But can anyone believe, that the biggest hurdle in
khushi’s journey was gathering the team? Well, if it was any other sports
then this wouldn’t be a problem, but for football, and especially for girls,
it was. So, “Is this because men’s football is overrated?” Khushi chose
really wise words as an answer for that, “We can’t blame on them. And
that is because men’s football isn’t overrated, but women’s game is a bit
underrated.”
Khushi is also a game loving personality, of course she had a soft corner
for football, but she also believes that “ Playing is more important. En-
couragement to playing is encouragement to developing.” Adding to this,
“Playing also leads to a great fitness level, great stamina and immunity lev-
el.” And definitely staying fit makes a way for happiness as well.
Khushi is a happy, fun loving personality. She told us about an unforget-
table match. It wasn’t a match where she scored maximum goals or she
was the reason of their win, instead they actually lost that match. It was
against Haryana, and the results were very clear that they were gonna lose,
but she loved that match because that day, she actually enjoy the game.
Month of July, it was raining and she was doing one of the thing that she
really admires, so was one of the best match of her. She said, “Results are
just a part of the game, but your enjoyment, fun and love is what it takes
for sportsmanship.”
Such gestures are result of internal beauty and self development. Those
aren’t the things that you learn in school or college; there are no lessons
for that, it is something that what you are, and how you want to be.
