1. Do you have all the Nutrients listed on the labels in a certain order.
Answer – All Nutrients must be listed alphabetically on the label.

2. Is the Nutrition information on the front of pack.
Answer – Nutrition information must be clearly on the front of the pack.

3. The term ‘Guideline Daily Amount’ (GDA) has been replaced with ‘Reference Intake’ (RI)
have you amended this.

Answer - Reference intake has replaced GDA. All GDA references to be removed and replaced.
4. The information has to be given per 100g/ml. Has this been applied.

Answer – 100ml and 100gram is the standardised measurements allowed.
5. If a nutrition claim is made then it becomes mandatory. Do you make any claims.

Answer - All claims must be substantiated. No matter how they are stated.
6. The amount of the ingredients used in a product will also be stated. Have you total control
and do you measure this amount.

Answer - Ingredient historical data must be accessible for inspection. Install Data Capture.
7. Have you data capture and reporting in place to back you claims.

Answer - Data Capture and tractability for the entire production is now required.
8. Does the ingredient (e.g. steak and kidney pie) or category of ingredients (e.g. vegetable
pasty) appear in the name of the food.

Answer – The name of the product, must contain those related ingredients.
9. Are there: cereals containing gluten, crustaceans (e.g. prawns or crab), molluscs (e.g. clams
or mussels), eggs, fish, peanuts, nuts, soybeans, milk, celery, mustard, sesame, lupin and
sulphur dioxide.

Answer – All allergens or potential allergens must be listed.
10. Where the allergen is not obvious from the name of the ingredient, there will be a clear
reference to the name of the allergen next to the ingredient.

Answer – This is a new standard requirement.

11. Food and drink manufacturers can only make nutrition claims if they are approved. Do you
make any claims?

Answer - All claims must be approved by EFSA

12. Claims which appear on pack have been approved by the European Food Safety Authority
(EFSA). Do you require guidance on approval?

Answer – Please contact us for advice and assistance.

13. Do you have the. Name and address of the manufacturer, packer or distributor.

Answer - This is a new standard requirement.

14. For information panel labelling, have you used a print or type size that is prominent,
conspicuous and easy to read. Do you know the required size?

Answer - If the largest surface of your package or container has an area of less than 80 cm2 , then
the minimum “x-height” (see definition above) is reduced to 0.9mm.

If the largest surface of your package or container has an area of less than 25 cm2 , then your
product is exempt from the requirement to provide a mandatory nutrition declaration.

15. Have you detailed the origin of the products.

Answer – Complete traceability is now required all on produce

16. Have you dated when the product was first frozen.

Answer – First frozen is now a requirement. Including processed foods.

17. Do you have nutrition package software in place.

Answer – Data capture and historical records are a requirement

18. Do you require assistance in labelling and controlling for compliance.
