making it the largest in the state among non-
utility companies. The solar system is a key pillar in
earning a USGBC Platinum LEED Certification for
the Plano campus.

Toyota plans to complete the solar power project
in two phases. The first phase will see solar panels
installed on top of two parking structures on the
Plano campus. Those grids should be up and
running by August 2017. A third parking structure
will get the same solar panel treatment shortly
thereafter and is scheduled to come online in
December 2017.

"We are dedicated to making sure our new

- Toyota's commitment to the environment," said
Kevin Butt, Regional Director, North American
Environmental Division. "The Plano solar system
will not only reduce our environmental footprint
and educate team members about renewable
energy, it moves us closer to Toyota's 2050 global
environmental challenge to eliminate carbon
emissions in all operations."

According to Toyota, the solar installation will
provide about 25 percent of the electricity needed
to run the headquarters campus. This should
reduce the facility's carbon dioxide emissions
by 7,122 metric tons, or the equivalent of the
electricity used by 1,000 homes in a year.

The first of its kind in Africa, the canopy

Most platforms are located in giant Outeniqua
Yellowwood trees. The scenery and bird life is
spectacular and professional guides provide
interesting facts about the forest ecology during

The concept of guiding people through the

methods for accessing the forest canopy in order
to conduct research on the undiscovered canopy

breathtaking form of eco-tourism which allowed
people to enter and experience a previously

Whenever it wasn’t parked on a pavement outside

along the way. With over 500 units sold monthly,

RAV4 boasts reshaped headlamps with LEDs
which come standard across the range. Its front
bumper has undergone a bit of surgery too,
resulting in a nose which carries the latest Toyota
design language. In side profile, the RAV4 stands
high and proud on redesigned 17 & 18 inch alloys
whist the rear boasts a slinky tail light design that
features LED lights and no visible reverse lights. I
particularly liked the reshaped lower tailgate and
restyled fog lamps.

DANIEL CRAIG’S
FAVORITE BOND CAR

While Toyota’s 2000GT is a lesser-known rival to Jaguar, Aston Martin, and Ferrari, it’s
time to take this $1 million, right-hand-drive racer seriously

D aniel Craig’s favorite Bond car isn’t “This is the Japanese supercar,” said Jonathan

The Ultimate One

Making rounds on the circuit since
January of 2014, the Toyota FT-1 (Future
Toyota Ultimate One) has been the latest
pipe-dream provider to Supra enthusiasts

The Toyota FT-1 concept is a pure
performance, track-focused sports car
model created by CaltyDesign Research,
Toyota’s North American Design branch.
The FT-1 concept is a symbol that captures
elements of the emotion and energy we can expect
to see in future Toyota vehicles designs.

Its design is heavily influenced by Toyota’s long
sports car tradition that includes vehicles such as
2000GT, Celica, Supra and most recently, FT-86
(Scion F-RS). However, that dream quickly dissolved
by 2008, with Toyota announcing that it had
no intention of continuing toward a production
version. And dissolved, quite literally. Its hybrid drive
technology was implemented within the Supra HV-R
race car, and it’s no far cry to consider many of the
design elements are closely related to the FT-86
concept, better known as the production ready FR-S.

While I’ve moved on to other genres, the Toyota
Supra stands out as the quintessential Japanese
Sports Vehicle. Sure, many would tout that flag
toward the Skyline, but there was simply something
about this machine that screamed “Hero Car”.
