predecease a minor child the chosen guardian will assume
caretaking responsibilities. A trustee to manage the nances
of the minor child will also need to be chosen. Trustees and
executors are duciaries who are responsible for your as-
sets. You should take great care in selecting these individuals
because their decisions impact how your estate operates.

An estate plan is a recognition of the people who matter
to you and the legacy you leave to them is your nal act as a
parent, spouse, sibling or friend. You alone get to decide how
and when the resources in your estate get divided. After you
select the people in charge of your estate, you prepare a set of
instructions for them to carry out to ensure the best possible
result according to your wishes.

Your estate plan may change over time. Preparing an
estate plan early does not necessarily mean that signi cant
changes are needed, but it is always wise to revisit a plan and
see if there is a better way to achieve your goals. Wills can
be changed and revocable trusts can be amended. Talking to
the professionals at Sloan and Feller is one way to start the
process.

Senior Sendoff – Boys Lacrosse

Due to circumstances beyond their control, the seniors on John Jay’s boys lacrosse team, winners of two straight Section 1 Class B titles, will never get a chance to three-peat.
But despite the early end to their careers, the mark this class left on the John Jay lacrosse program will never be forgotten.

e Indians coaches—head coach Tim Schurr, Jeremy Guski, Nick Daniello, and Sean O’Rourke—said as much in a joint message to their senior student-athletes.
“To our seniors, we thank you for your hard work, dedication and commitment to continuing to make our lacrosse team the special program that our community values,” the
coaches said. “ roughout your time here we have accomplished great things together that include an overall record of 48-14, two sectional titles over Yorktown and a state
championship game appearance. We will continue to honor your legacy going forward and thank you again for leaving a lasting impression on the next generation of John Jay
lacrosse players.”
Before we say goodbye to the Class of 2020, let’s learn more about them:

Kathryn Ogg, of Bedford Corners, has been named the

top female student-athlete for the winter term at the Harvey

School.

Ogg, who served as the co-captain on the girls varsity basket-

ball team and led her team in rebounds and in minutes played,

nished the winter term with a 4.10 grade-point average.

Harvey girls varsity basketball head coach Robert Bruckner

said no player worked harder than Ogg, calling her the team’s

“workhorse” for giving maximum e ort in both games and

practices. Bruckner also praised Ogg’s in-game leadership.

“Kathryn understood game plans and executed them to

perfection,” the coach said.

Selected as the top male student-ath-

In making the announcement, Athletics Director Ray Lacen said, “Kathryn and

Spencer stand out for having the one quality that makes everyone around them bet-
