A Time to B d

We have all been impacted by this hidden monster, COVID-19. It has had an impact on everything we hold
close to our hearts. Businesses are disrupted, Health Care Workers and First Responders are taxed to exhaustion.
We cannot visit and share time with those we love. Birthdays, Anniversaries, Weddings and sadly even Funerals
are victims of our inability to bond with others and share good times and bad.

It is because of all of this that it is a time to bond outside our normal ways of social gathering. The fight we
face today is a fight against the unknown. This has created fear. The best way we can fight it is with what we
know. Here is what we know for certain:

1. The best and brightest are working around the clock and are finding ways to combat this awful virus.

2. We can do our part to help by following guidelines and directives to minimize risk to ourselves and
to others.

3. We are all together sharing the same trials and hardships to fight this pandemic every day.

4. We live in a community that can help those in need.

5. Our Town Services are operating at full efficiency to help everyone they can to get through this most
difficult and confusing time.

This great newspaper that you are reading serves as a source of information greatly needed by our
community. It always helps to promote and support those who serve the town. It identifies and helps to gain
support for those who feel they do not have a voice. We support it in this time of need.

More importantly, we want everyone to know we are willing to help in any way within our means to help
those who need it right now. We ask those in town who are still working and have the means to support efforts to
re-supply the food bank. Many local charities are stretched to the limit and can use support. The Somers Strong
program is a good way to donate, but it is only one of many. Other ideas will arise to help those close to us.

Through this time of crisis, we need to remember to, above all else, keep a positive attitude. Although it is
hard, try to smile at everyone who you see at the store, on the street or in passing. The fear of contagion has
made us think everyone is a potential carrier and should be avoided. Even if this is true, no one asked for this
terrible virus. It is not the fault of those around us, so a little kindness goes a long way in easing fears and
making someone’s day. Please do your best not to hoard and take more than you really need. Keep in mind that
there is always someone needier.

For those in need, please reach out to us via Lion Gary Forbes at [email protected] or (914)
299-9689 and we will do our best to serve the community by doing what is in our power to do. We will always
support our town and our community, and this newspaper who keeps us all informed.

This ad is funded by the dues of SOMERS Lions members. 100% of donations to the Somers Lions

Information is healthy.

Fear is not.

What is Social Distancing?

Social Distancing is one of the most effective ways to avoid coronavirus infection. It simply means
avoiding crowded settings, mass gatherings and maintaining a 6-foot distance from others when possible.

We know that this may mean missing an event you’ve been looking forward to, or breaking your weekly
routine, but it will also protect you and those around you.
Northwell Health is built for situations just like this
and we’ll continue to share facts and tips in the
days to come. Because knowledge is contagious too.

Facts and guidelines related to coronavirus are constantly evolving. The facts contained here are Northwell’s best judgment at time of publication.

To solve a sudoku, the numbers 1 through 9 must fill each row, column and box. Each number can
appear only once in each row, column and box. You can figure out the order in which the numbers will appear by using
the numeric clues already provided in the boxes. The more numbers you name, the easier it gets to solve the puzzle!
