Laurie Dratch: Model, bodybuilder, cancer survivor

Mahopac alum has fought hard to get to the top of her sport

At 60, Laurie Dratch (maiden

name Leuzzi) is in better shape

than most women half her age.

e former model is now

a bodybuilder and is about to

embark on a journey that could

start a second chapter in her life.

An amateur bodybuilder until

now, Dratch has her eyes set on

becoming a professional. If she

wins a Team Universe competi-

tion later this month, that will

happen.

Overcoming ageism and the

other challenges that face a

competitor in a sport designed

for much younger folks, Dratch

has also had to defeat the big-

gest foe of them all: cancer. So

far, she has done just that.

between Mahopac and Florida
