BY SARAH GAYDEN
CONTRIBUTING WRITER

On his recent birthday, North Salem resident Kooney

Kooney celebrated the way that many locals might—a day of

run came to an end on urs-
day, Oct. 31, when they lost in
straight sets on the road at No.
1 Valhalla (25-19, 25-9, 25-12).

Two days earlier, the Tigers
(8-13) opened the Section 1
Class C tournament by defeat-
ing No. 5 Alexander Hamilton
(25-16, 25-20, 25-12) at home.

Leading the way in the win
over Hamilton were Emily
Dreyer (7 kills, 3 aces), Chloe
Fogle (6 kills, 4 aces), Joan Her-
lihy (12 aces) and Juliana Dutt
(16 assists).

Joan Herlihy, a co-captain,
called the season a “huge suc-
cess.”

“ is is the best record we
have had in a long time and
it was also one of the hardest
schedules we’ve had,” Herlihy
said.

She is also proud of what her

“For the past four years, I have
created friendships and memo-
ries I will never forget,” Herlihy
said. “I hope that the underclass-
men will continue to have as
much fun as I did!”
