Abstract

I have completed my internship for the duration of nineteen weeks at Bags
Ground Service, located in Chonburi Province. It is part of my Bachelor’s Degree
requirement. It is my first time to work real workplace with officer during the period
from January 08,2019 to May 10,2019 during my internship I had a lot of
responsibilities, obligations and problem while I worked as a receptionist. In this
report I have mentioned what experience I have gained and problem that I faced.

The report will show my internship duties and other responsibilities taking
place at Bags Ground Service, My responsibilities were take care all passengers from
check-in ,sticking tags for loading the baggage , instructive to passengers , until
transfer areas to the boarding gate.

I hope the experience gained during my internship recorded in this report
would be useful to future interns who are interested in resort business

I would like to express my sincere thanks to my advisor for my success in this
internship project.

For four months from January to May 2019, I did an internship at bags ground
services. This internship brought me to very new and interesting area of using English
Communication in business level. Through the internship, I did not only gain a lot of
knowledge but, more importantly, I also had a good chance sharpen my skills in a
hospitality.

In addition, I am very grateful to my supervisor and all staff at bags ground
services who helped me with my work for their suggestions in discharging my

SPUC CHONBURI Chapter 1 : Introduction

1.1 Background

This is a report of my internship at Bags Ground Service from 07 January,
2019 to 10May, 2010. This report show details of my experiences during the time of
my internship at this Airline.

The internship and is report are part of my graduation requirements as an
English major student at English for Business Communication Program at Sripatum
University – Chonburi Campus.

Inside, you will find both the university’s objectives and my own personal
objectives. There are chapters which discuss about the activities and self-evaluation
that I have to achieve after internship program. In the following chapter description of
knowledge and experience I got from workplace. I got practical knowledge out of
classroom with new idea or method solving problems, understanding organizational
culture and learning work goals with different persons during the internship.

1.2 Objective of the Cooperative Education Program

As an English major student at English for Business Communication program,
there is a requirement to have a four-month internship period where a student is
required to go and train with a company for a period of time.

Sripatum University’s Cooperative Education Program is designed to:
• Provide students with valuable, real-world work experience
• Introduce prospective employers with Sripatum students who will be seeking
employment in the near future
• Learn to solve problems in real work condition and learn the ways to solve
them
• Learn new things out of classroom
• Increase work experience and English skills specially listening, speaking,
writing and answering
• Learn to work with different persons in an organization
• Learn to come to work and finish work on time


1.3 Personal Objectives

After deciding to study in the Cooperative Education Program, I set myself
some goals and objectives which I wished to achieve by working in an organization.

These personal objectives for my internship were to:
• Increase my knowledge about airline processing.
• Increase my knowledge about Russian Language
• Learn to solve problems that I gained from my mistakes
• Develop self-confidence to work without feeling shy
• Learn how to do teamwork with other staff
• Gain knowledge about the process airline rules

SPUC CHONBURI Chapter 2 : Method and Self Evaluation

2.1 Procedures

After considering a list of organizations, I selected the Bags Ground Service. It
is a very interesting process of airline.

The following was the procedure which I followed to obtain a place at Bags
Ground Service.

• I was informed about the Co-op Educational Internship Program by
Miss Chonthitaphuwarat – My advisor of Cooperative Education Program.
• I found the workplace by myself from internet that I have interested.
• I was determined to do internship at Bags Ground Service.
• I made resume for submitting to the company.
• The workplace accepted me for my internship.
• I sent my documents as attachment such as GPA and certificates of
education to Bags Ground Service by email.
• I got a letter of student’s internship from workplace and waited for the
starting date of work

2.2 Self – Analysts

I am forth year student in English for Business Communication Program. I
can speak and translate well but some of word that I unknown , I often consulted
dictionaries.

In case of internship in the Bags Ground Service, I don’t understand the
meanings of official vocabulary because difficult vocabulary. I must learn the
meanings from dictionaries or websites. Whenever I couldn’t find the meanings I had
to ask my supervisor for helping me to work efficiently and effectively.

I can use Listening and speaking skills when I communicate with airline
representative in English and Russian Language.


Chapter 3 : Duties and Responsibilities

3.1 Responsibilities

I was a Passenger Service Agent. My Supervisor,Mr. PatcharaponBoonmee.
He was responsible for assigned my duties atBags Ground Service.

These are some of my main responsibilities:
• Take care all passengers
• Check-in
• Sticking tags for loading the baggage
• Instructive to passengers
• Transfer passengers to the boarding gate
• Take care that special case for passenger VIP
• Take care of loading bag and luggage

My first day of internship was on 7th January 2019, I got up early morning
then getting ready for work at Bags Ground Service.

I really excited to meet new friend or co-worker in the airport. I come to
training with friend. After I waited station manager about 30 minute for brief detail
about job.After that, went to the card room to make a staff card.

In the afternoon working documents in the office.

For the problem in the first week that I found that this stations not enough staff for
work.

Starting second week , today Ihelped the counter staff (passenger service)
tagged passengers baggage and check weight baggage. Bags Ground Service station
accepted check-in 3 Airline such as AZUR AIRLINE, ROYALFRIGHT AIRLINE,
SACT AIRLINE these airline had a different weight check, Azur airline weight not
over 20 kg per one person if overweight the airline set 550 baht per 1 kg as the fine.
Royal fright has the same rules as Azur airline. Scat airline weight not over 20 kg per
one person if overweight the airline set 250 baht per 1 kg as the fine.

For this week, there were 18 flights because it is the high season. I still work
the same position and met different passengers that were good and habits. The station
manager has taken to look that how the maintenance repair the bus.

This week I found a bit problem in communication with passenger because
they can talked only Russian.

In this week, supervisor of royal flight airline from Russia come to Bags
Ground Service for check the work of the staff us.

And one day had a problem is staff us check-in wrong.

After finish check-in supervisor from Russia she told that “,It so bad work.”That
momentI was very shocked and scared.

This incident caused the staff was called on the carpet by his boss for having
made a bad mistake.

After one month that I worked here. I changed the position from passenger
service to load control communication service agent.Which the duty of this position is
responsible for every activity in the aircraft parking bay.

There were many problems in this week such as crew misunderstands that

loader staff steal fruit of passenger because the basket has been opened but actually
the basket has been opened since the counter check-in.The crew still didn’t believe
what we described until the passenger confirmed it.

month.

I still work the same position but have a special flight is a private flight with
only captain and crew.Private flights are the least problematic.

Caring for activities in the aircraft parking bay lot according to the specified time and
in accordance with the standard work procedures.

For this week I thought I had very confident to communicate with foreigner.

On the 8th week everything was still the same. I went to worked early
everyday. I working the same but difference problem and solving the problems
depending on the situation in each week.

I had a duty to record the time when all services were completed for sending
information to the airline and coordinating with the captain if there were any
problems.

For this week I enjoy with working . This was a very busy week for me but isn’t
bad.

I founded case that the passenger was drunk and rude behavior.

Staff told me that he had waited until check-in the last person completed. We looked
at his and see that the symptoms were normal. So I called him to check-in.

On the 11th week it was half way for meto finish my internship.

This week I will be the duty of purser to take the crew to plane and purser must stay
in aircraft parking bay until the aircraft takeoff because coordinate with the cabin
crew while passengers were going on the aircraft and waiting for the last passenger to
arrive the aircraft and waiting the cabin crew close the door.

After completed everything we will wait all start-up aircraft engines and ready
to take off. Next step waited for record the time of the aircraft to take off and report to
operator to acknowledge and sent detail information to the airline.

For this week I thought I had improved myself by being able to speak to the
captain and cabin crew.

On the 14th week. I was responsible for information of staff bags ground service such
as checking personal profile because auditor came to office for checking information
inside the organization and copy document.

And sometime I was helped staff sending and checking information if that day
not had flight. In that day had a problem is passenger forget telephone at gate but her
at aircraft. So I and staff driver car to aircraft parking bay for bring telephone back to
passengers.

On the 15th week, For this week, I was responsible for tagging the baggage of
passengers and boarding passenger. In this day, I had a problem with aircraft about
damage engine until offload passengers come back to terminal. Staff and I must stand
by in gate for support and announcement to passengers if there were a problem and
service drinking water to passengers because the rules of airline if had a problem with
aircraft until passengers couldn’t departure.

It was coming the end of internship. I thought I got a lot of skills from my
work.

I had 1 week for my intern. , I changed the position from passenger service to load
control communication service agent.

I was given a new duty, counting the baggage of departure passenger and control fuel
with crew. If we calculate fuel mistakes, the plane will be overweight can’t go out we
must control the work well. In a part of count luggage I will be must count luggage to
the equal to the crew if something goes wrong, count don’t match with crew
sometime must to count again if crew want but sometime wait for destination sent
detail information to us for check that passenger receive a full luggage? If not we
must be responsible but there has never been a situation like this, maybe it was me or
the crew that count was wrong. understand I asked my mentors they never were tried
to teach something new to me.

This week was my last week, I was very pleased that I finished my intern and I
was very sad to say goodbye everyone. I still work until last.

In this week, I learnt from this place about good relationship, teamwork and
social responsibility in the workplace. This internship made me increase my
knowledge and good communication skills.

I was able to make progress to apply the knowledge to my job successfully. I think all
these were good opportunity and good experiences for me.

This last week, my supervisor ordered seafood for giving farewell party for me.
Everything in the company was best of my memories.It will be useful for my career in
the future.


Chapter 4 : Problem and Solution

4.1 Problems

Every day, there were a lot of problems to communicate with the passengers.
 I couldn’t do what the passenger requested me to because they spoke with
many accents. Some people talked so fast, some people talked to slowly so I
didn’t understand what they said.
 Most passengers can’t speak English , they can talked only Russian.

4.2 Solutions

My solutions were to find ways to work during the internship. I tried to learn
more about this training. The followings were:

 I asked them to repeat the sentences and I tried to learn different accents.
 So I has been fix by myself did basic Russian short learning.
 I used translation app and sometimes used body language to communicate.

SPUC CHONBURI Chapter 5: Conclusion and Suggestions

5.1 Overall Evaluation

Doing an internship at Gags Ground Services was a great opportunity for me
to learn real-world experience. I had many things to do. This made me get a lot of
valuable experiences.

Before start job I feel lack of self-confidence. But after I has been done that
apprenticed I feel different as first, I has confident in myself and got greatly
experience. And get chance to communicated in Russian as well. I had very confident
to communicate with foreigner.

Especially I feel proudly about a so many praised voice feedback from
passengers and supervisor to me.

This work was good experience and beneficial for career in the future. I got
more knowledge and solve problems during working in this airline. It made me
develop self-confidence about communication skill with foreign.

5.2 Suggestions for Future Cooperative Education Students

I realize now that doing an internship course and working at airline aren’t
easy. Iwould like to make some suggestions and recommendations for the future
CooperativeEducation internship students. These are as follows:

 The students should read and know about the rules and policies of the
organization before they go to work there.

 The students should prepare English skills before going for internship
 The students should have some knowledge about academic vocabulary to

apply inthe future.
 The students should have some knowledge about China language.
 The students should learn about work under pressure.
 The students should have patience and have confidence.


5.3 Recommendations for the Cooperative Education Program

The followings are some of my opinions about the Cooperative Education
Program and how I think the program can be improved.

 I think students should be given more training about office procedures before
going to the internship

 I think students should get experience in Microsoft Office.
 I think students should get experience in academic and hotel vocabulary.
 I think students should be given more training about not feeling hesitated to

work well with other people or foreigners before going to find job in the
future.
 I think students should have timetable for in-out of internship workplace.
