Parents and Teens: Distracted Driving Seminar !
Did you know? Distracted or inattentive driving is a factor
in one in four crashes in Minnesota, resulting in at least 70
deaths and 350 serious injuries. Minnesota’s Office of Traffic
Safety estimates these numbers are vastly underreported due
to law enforcement’s challenge in determining distraction as
a crash factor.

Join attorney Art Kosieradzki, Lakeville Police and the
Dakota County Attorney’s office for a free presentation
April 27 on distracted driving and what you can do. A

a few hours getting your hands a little dirty and maybe receive a few licks along the
way. Lakeville Area Community Education offers a special Youth Service Project each
season during the school year. Our spring session will give all ISD194 middle school
students a very unique opportunity to help out at Pawsitive Perspectives Assistance

The mission of PawPADS is to “enrich the lives of people with disabilities by providing them
with exceptionally skilled assistance dogs....” PawPAD’s primarily focus is on training service
dogs for people with physical mobility disabilities. Their dogs can also be trained as Diabetic
Alert dogs (trained for detecting changes in blood sugar levels), Autism Support Dogs, Home
Help-mate Dogs, and Facility/Animal Assisted Therapy dogs on a case-by-case basis.

Volunteers will be helping with many tasks which will
help this amazing organization operate throughout the
year.  Transportation to and from MMS will be provided. CMS
and KTMS students can take activity bus to MMS to participate
in this trip. Or parents can drop them off at MMS at 3:00 pm.

Aquatics & Safety

Learn to swim with Lakeville Area Community Ed!
Our caring and dedicated instructors are Red Cross trained and certified to help your child enjoy developing
swimming and water safety skills in a positive learning environment. Safety topics are included in all classes: basic
water safety, healthy swimming, safe water entry, helping yourself and others in an emergency, and safe weather
conditions for swimming. Pre-requisite for each level is the mastery of skills from the preceding level or equivalent
skills. Each child is provided with a skill assessment within the first two classes to determine appropriate level
placement. Each student receives a progress report at the middle of the session and at the end of the session. It is
common for a child to repeat a level before mastering all skills. Semi-Private lessons must register 2 swimmers and
it is recommended the students are at a similar skill level.

For complete class descriptions and comparison of levels to other swim programs,

Early Childhood Screening

Early Childhood Screening

Early Childhood Screening (ECS) is FREE for all preschool-age
children and required by the State of Minnesota. The optimum
age for screening is 3 ½ - 4 years of age and must be completed
before entering kindergarten. It includes a check of your child’s
development, vision, hearing, weight and immunizations. ECS
helps identify children who may benefit from district and community
resources. To schedule your child’s ECS appointment call 952-232-
3000, #3 and leave a message. We will return your call. ECS is located
at Crystal Lake Education Center, 16250 Ipava Ave.
