DIY Air Purifier
After thousands of hours of test data, we’ve shown that DIY purifiers are as effective as those costing thousands
of rupees. We ship the simple, yet low cost ‘DIY 1.1’ air purifier (in our workshops) to help people get clean air
without spending a fortune.
DIY 1.1
The Sqair has been designed from the ground up to do one thing: clean air. And it does that one thing really well.
The Sqair is the world's most cost- effective air purifier, pumping out enough clean air for a 430 sq ft from its
elegant, compact design.
The Sqair
The secret to a good purifier is a strong fan and an effective HEPA Filter. By pushing this concept to the limits, we
created the Ladakh Air Purifiers. They use incredible large size fans and huge HEPAs to give you huge amounts
of clean air with much lower noise levels than the DIYs. They’re ideal for offices and other large spaces.

HEPA Filters
HEPA Filters are the workhorse of any air purifier. They’re what do the actual cleaning so it’s important to get
ones you can trust. Smart Air has tested over 100 different HEPA types to make sure we’re using the best, and
we test every batch to make sure you’re getting our reliably-good cleaning rates.
DIY HEPA Filters
After testing hundreds of different Filter types, we settled on H12 (99.5%) HEPA Filters for our DIY and Cannon,
to get a good balance between airflow and cleaning performance.

Our Carbon Filters
HEPAs capture particulate pollution (things like PM2.5, PM10 and pollen). Carbon Filters get VOCs. These are
hazardous gases that normally pass right through a HEPA. Activated carbon Filters react with these hazardous
gases to remove them from the air. As always, we’ve tested these Filters in multiple scenarios, and all the data is
available online.

At Smart Air, we deliver effective and low cost gimmick-free purifiers, that are backed by data. You don’t have to
take our word for it, all our purifiers test data is published open source, so you can really see for yourself how
effective these purifiers are. Here are some common questions we get asked:
Does our purifiers work?
The graph below shows data we have collected from one of our many tests we have done using a DIY1.0 in a
13.5m2 sealed room in Beijing. We used a Dylos DC1700 laser particle counter to measure the air quality changes
over 8 hours. We can observe the number of particles sized 2.5 microns and above decreasing from 500+ to below
100. This shows that DIY 1.0 is effective in removing tiny particles within the room.

How long does our HEPA Filter last?
To find out the lifespan of a HEPA Filter, we have done test on the HEPA Filter by using it in actual Beijing air
across 200 days. As observed in the graph below, after using the Filters for 100 days, there is a 4% reduction in
effectiveness. However, at the 140-day mark, the effectiveness reduced by another 10%. We concluded from our
experiment the recommended lifespan of a HEPA Filter on DIY 1.0/1.1 is an estimated 120 days (3 months) while
using it 8 hours a day.
Does our Carbon Filters work?
The graph below shows the one of the test we have conducted on our Carbon Filters. It is measured using an iBrid
MX6 detector in an 8.4m2 room in China. We first introduce VOC gases into the room and turn on our Cannon
purifier attached with Carbon Filters. We can observe the amount of VOC decreases rapidly drops till the 35th
minute where no more VOC gases can be detected by the iBrid MX6. Hence, we ensure our carbon Filters are
effective in removing VOC gases
