CAPTAIN'S MESSAGE

Another SuccessfulTournament atTPC Kuala Lumpur

Dato Mustafa Muhammad Ali The CIMB Classic was yet another successful golf tournament held
Club Captain at TPC Kuala Lumpur from Thursday to Sunday, 11 to 14 October. As
usual the main tournament was preceded by the Pro-Am (1 professional
and 3 amateurs) using the “Shambles” system. My professional was 23
years old Kim Si Woo, the young Korean from the USA and the amateurs
were Farroul Hossey, our General Manager, and Wong Pau San, our Senior
Golfers’ Champion. We teed off at about 1.30pm with all of us playing quite
well but due to poor weather, we could only complete 8 holes which was a
great shame!

The tournament proper went on quite well and the weather, although humid,
was also very good except for one-hour of drizzle on the first day.

Some 78 professionals took part in the CIMB Classic including 2 Malaysians,
Ben Leong and Kim Leun Kwang. The tournament was very competitive and
by the third day, there were 3 leaders, Gary Woodland from the USA, Marc
Leishman from Australia and Shubhankar Sharma from India all with scores
of 197, 19 under par. Marc Leishman eventually became the Champion with
a very good score of 262 at 26 under par.

Ben Leong played quite well on the first day with a score of 4 under par 68
but unfortunately his score on the second day was 70 and 71 on day three
followed by 1 under par 72 on the final day. Although he finished in 54th
position he still managed to pocket RM59,000.

Kim Leun Kwang came out last but he was still able to collect RM47,000.

Congratulations to another Malaysian professional, Gavin Kyle Green who
could not take part in the CIMB Classic as he was competing in the British
Masters Championship at Walton Heath Golf Club in Surrey England where
he finished in the top 10 and is officially qualified for the DP World Tour
Championship in Dubai from 15 to 18 November 2018. All the best to you
in Dubai, Gavin!

CEO'S MESSAGE

Consolidating Our Position

Steven Thielke With the 9th edition of the highly successful CIMB Classic behind us and the
Chief Executive Officer upgraded West Course receiving accolades from the Professionals as well
as our Members, Management will be concentrating on ensuring that TPC Kuala
TPC Kuala Lumpur Lumpur cements our position as the leading Golf Course and Club both in Malaysia
as well as in South East Asia.

Thanks to the indefatigable efforts of the team, led by our Head of Agronomy, Mohd
Nizam Othman and inspite of the relatively short turn around period from a year ago,
the West Course behaved admirably in producing a winning score of –26 for the first
non-American winner from Australia, Marc Leishman.

Using the Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC) soil system with a pH value of 6, the
new TifEagle greens and Celebration Bermuda Fairways exceeded expectations
and will gradually mature even further with the passage of time and Members will
unquestionably have the best all round playing and putting surfaces in the country.

We congratulate the new Chairman, Mr Donny Kwa and the new LC Members
on their recent election and as promised to all who attended the recent Annual
General Meeting, we will ensure that our facilities and standard of service are not
only maintained but improved upon in the year ahead as we strive to raise the bar
in every area.

We continue to welcome regular feedback and are most grateful to those who take
the trouble to complete the “WOW Experience” card which does much to motivate
the staff when they know that their efforts are appreciated, as well as keeping them
on their toes at all times. The appropriate cards are available from the Business Centre
as well as the Golfer’s Terrace, whilst an email to pre.tpckl@simedarbyproperty.com
will also be acted upon immediately.

CEO'S MESSAGE

As has regularly been emphasised by the Captain, it is imperative that we are
recognised not just as the premier Golf Club but also a family Club where every
Member has an outlet at which they can enjoy the range of international class
facilities whether at the Tennis Academy, Gymnasium or Swimming Pool, backed
by the various food outlets which are the envy of so many. It is also to be noted that
the Club will need to follow the recently introduced national guide lines on smoking
and vaping for all eateries. More details will be shared within the next few weeks.
With the annual festive season fast approaching and to avoid disappointment,
may I encourage Members to book early to utilise the Banquet Hall and different
Function outlets which are available for company and family celebrations under the
watchful eye of our Banquet Team who are renowned for their succulent menus and
immaculate service.
The Running Group which meets on alternate Sundays is proving most popular as is
the recently introduced Speed Golf every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
Personal training at the gym and the Let’s Get Fit workout programme that caters to
everyone’s needs continue to be well patronised and full details of these and all our
programmes are updated daily on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube. For the
easy reference of Members who can also WhatsApp “YES TPCKL” to 019 2636548.

MGA NATIONAL HANDICAPPING SYSTEM
(NHS) MOBILE APP

In line with the World Handicap System (WHS) launching in January
2020, the Malaysian Golf Association (MGA) has introduced a mobile
app called the MGA NHS; to cater for a smooth transition from the
existing USGA Handicapping System to WHS. Golfers are advised to
install the free MGA NHS mobile app from Apple AppStore or Google
Play; and begin to familiarise with the App.
The App allows you to post scores, reviews, ratings and also track
your friends. The MGA NHS runs concurrently with the current system
(by printing handicap cards and send it to Clubs) until 31 December
2018. The MGA NHS is expected to go live on 1 January 2019, and
at the same time, handicap card printing will be discontinued.
