ART AFTER DARK

TRIBUTE JOURNAL

January 25, 2020 / 29 Tevet 5780

A MESSAGE FROM OUR CHAIRPEOPLE

On behalf of the entire Bornblum Jewish Community School family, welcome to ART AFTER
DARK: A Night of Illumination. Tonight we have transformed our school with light in the same
way our school has lit up the lives of Jewish families in Memphis for more than three decades.

Our hope is that you will be illuminated by what you experience tonight, illuminated and
inspired not just by the incredible art, but by the feeling of warmth and community which
define our school.

Congratulations to our honorees, Mrs. Paula Greenberg and Jewish Community Partners.
Mrs. Greenberg, now in her 30th year at Bornblum has been inspiring our students with art for
decades. We are grateful not just for her talent as a teacher and as an artist, but for the
extreme love and caring she has for Bornblum’s students.

Jewish Community Partners, through its partners Memphis Jewish Federation and Jewish
Foundation of Memphis, is more than just our second largest donor. We honor them tonight
for their deep commitment to the cause of Jewish education, for their tireless work to identify
and meet the needs of Bornblum, and for their core understanding that the future of the
Memphis Jewish community depends on their leadership and their work to promote Jewish
education.

We would like to also thank all of the parents and community members who have had a hand in
making this Night of Illumination a reality. Their creativity and imagination have made this
evening perfect.

Lastly, we want to thank you—our community—for your tireless support of Bornblum and its
mission. We hope you will enjoy this wonderful gala and that you will be inspired to take
advantage of all of the opportunities before you to give generously. We appreciate each and
every one of you.

With gratitude,

Alla & Nathan Lubin

A MESSAGE FROM OUR HEAD OF SCHOOL

Thank you for joining us at our Art After Dark: A Light of Illumination Gala.  We are very proud to honor Mrs. Paula
Greenberg for her 30 years of dedication in inspiring our students through art education.  Paula continually demonstrates
a love of teaching our students and of sharing her art passion with as many students as possible.  We are also honoring
Jewish Community Partners whose dedication to Jewish Day School education in Memphis has helped to illuminate our
world by spreading the light of Jewish education throughout our community.

This year, our school has adopted the theme “Illuminate Your World” because the work that we undertake at Bornblum
brings light to the lives of our students, our families, our staff, our community, and the world.  We illuminate through our
splashes of color throughout the building with paint or new furniture, new LED lighting to make our school greener and
brighter, a new garden to brighten our outdoor space, our Newburger Family Mishpachot program, our new Science
curriculum, our establishment of a National Junior Honor Society, and our upgraded security measures.  Finally, our
dedication to student well-being through our work with First Responder Coaching, our Social Emotional Growth program,
our sensory path, our therapy dog, and our partnership with JCP, JFSA and MHA to hire a School Counselor, illuminates
the place our school holds in the lives of everyone in our community.

Tonight’s event is just another way that we Illuminate Your World.  Thank you for your commitment to helping us on our
mission.

B'shalom and with gratitude,

Daniel R. Weiss
