Member Benefits
Guide - 2016

In 1962 real estate professionals chartered the Centre County Board of REALTORS®,
following guidelines set in 1908, by the founding organization, the National Association of
Real Estate Exchange . . . “For the support and benefit, of its members and the community
at large.”

In 1993, the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® approved the request to rename the
Centre County Board of REALTORS® to the Centre County Association of REALTORS®
(CCAR).

Of great importance, the designation REALTOR® is not a synonym for a “real estate broker”
or “licensee”, but rather a registered trademark which identifies a real estate professional
who is a member of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® and bound by its strict
Code of Ethics.

A REALTOR® is automatically affiliated with the Pennsylvania Association of REALTORS®
(PAR) and the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® (NAR) – the world’s largest
professional trade association. Through this collective membership, REALTORS® are the
“Voice for Real Estate”, promoting the private ownership of real property and the free
enterprise system.

Since 1969, the REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC) has
promoted the election of pro-REALTOR® candidates across the United
States. The purpose of RPAC is clear: REALTORS® raise and spend
money to elect candidates who understand and support their interests.

The money to accomplish this comes from voluntary contributions made by
REALTORS®. These are not members’ dues; this is money given freely by
REALTORS® in recognition of how important campaign fundraising is to
the political process.

RPAC doesn’t buy votes. RPAC enables REALTORS® to support
candidates that support the issues that are important to their profession
and livelihood.

Please keep in mind that you can contribute to RPAC anytime during the
year.

SUPRA eKEY Feedback

Tommy Songer - CCAR’s President: “I love the eKey feature on our new Bluetooth

lockboxes. I used have the display key and although it worked well there was always the
inconvenience of updating your key every week. As was typical with most agents, I would forget to
update my key and show up at a listing and not be able to get into the home. As a listing agent, it
could be up to a week before I was able to get information on showings through the Supra web
system and programming lockboxes for schedules and other features was a pain. The new eKey
solves all of these problems by automatically updating itself every time you open the app. Also,
programming lockboxes, checking inventory and reading activity is very easy using the app. I often
promote these features when on listing appointments to ensure the owners that their home would be
secure and that we can track any showings if there are issues. It is certainly better than the old
combo boxes that we’ve used years ago and couldn’t imagine not having the convenience and
security that the lockbox system provides.”

Marc McMaster - CCAR’s Vice President: “Works great, it’s always synced (for the most part)

and you always have it with you. I didn’t like having a separate device that I had to sync and charge
and also remember where it was.”

Ellen Kline - CCAR’s Past President: “I just switched in the last year or so. Easy to use,

never forget it (who forgets their phone) no updating or forgetting then having to call for a code. I
don’t know why anyone would not use e key!”
