”this organization.

My name is Jessica, and I truly believe if it weren’t for Interfaith I would not
be able to share this story with you today. You see, on May 13, 2015 I was
accepted into the Interfaith program, and I have also been sober since that day.
The opportunity to be in the Interfaith program let me start my life again.

February 20-26 Growing up, visiting the dentist was never a priority. My family never went
to have our teeth checked; I was never forced to brush my teeth. I never even
interfaithdentalclinic.com/soups recall seeing my family brush their teeth. So really, I’ve had bad teeth my entire

or pain and I could hardly eat anything. I’ve dropped friends through this journey
Text ‘SOUPS’ to 41444 and have been made fun of a lot – but I realize now it’s all worth it. I’m grateful
to my Case Manager for introducing me to Interfaith. Like I mentioned, I’ve
been sober since the day I was accepted. That was my deal with myself.

But the journey wasn’t always easy. Before Interfaith, no one could convince me to visit
a dentist. I didn’t see the need. And finding out I would receive dentures at such a young
age was hard, but I was excited to have a new and healthy smile.

I never realized how much people put you down for having bad or no teeth. I never
smiled, and had such anxiety to even go out in public. But I’m starting to become a
bigger and better person. I have Interfaith to thank for that. Interfaith was a step for me
in my long journey and path to happiness. A BIG step.

I became excited to come to the dentist and see what steps were coming next in my Jessica after a makeover
treatment. I like to listen to my with her Case Manager

toothbrush sing to me for two
minutes when I brush. I love
teaching my children how to brush so they never end up in my
situation. I can take photos with my family now, and yes, I love
to take selfies! It’s no longer just something I watch the pretty
girls do. And most importantly, my smile motivated me to stay

sober, and now I feel like I can go out and do my job.

Jessica After I’ve quit smoking, am planning to get married soon and my goal

is to start my own business and follow in my dad’s footsteps. My
dad wanted me to take over his business in 2010, but I just wasn’t ready. Coming to Interfaith and getting my teeth fixed
has made me ready – they have very literally changed my life. So today, I’m modernizing my dad’s auction business. And I
will not let anything ruin my new smile.

Interfaith accepted me for me and gave me the opportunity to continue my journey. I’m excited to start my life again with
my new smile. That’s all possible because of Interfaith.

INTERFAITH IN THE NEWS

We hope everyone got a chance to read Reporter Brad Schmitt’s
story of Interfaith patients, Chris and Kendra, featured in The
Tennessean in December. You can link to the article by visiting our
website and clicking on NEWS AND EVENTS.
Chris and Kendra also spoke at the Story Behind the Smiles
breakfast in November to share their story of hope and new fight
for life. We wanted to share an excerpt to see the difference you are
making through your support...
“While trying to rebuild our life, there was no other affordable
option for dental care. And Interfaith met us where we were. I
can’t believe what a blessing it’s been to have Interfaith. It’s been
humbling, but the difference is night and day.
We’ve always been big on giving back, and we can’t believe this gift
we’ve been given. We came thinking we’d just get Kendra’s teeth
fixed and never dreamed we’d be able to afford both. It’s just so
wonderful coming into this program to know that someone has
your back – the changing of your mind to know the world’s not out
to get you – that goes far beyond your teeth.
We both believe it’s more than your teeth. For us, this program gave
the opportunity to go back and fight for our life. That’s our prayer
every morning – give us our fight back. And a huge portion of that
is Interfaith. Now, we’ve got our fight back. Knowing that you, and
others, have helped us get where we are – we can’t believe a place
like this even exists. Thank you for changing our life. For giving us
building blocks to start our life again. You’ve given us our heartbeat
back.”
