Weekly “Double Masking” for Maximum Results Routine
1) Cleanse face, neck, and chest.
2) Apply Mineral Clay Mask. Wait 10 to 15 min. until dry.
3) Re-wet mask and remove with scrub.
3) Massage layers of appropriate Synergy Serums
4) Apply a nice layer of Recovery Gel or Maximum Moisture Mask.
4) For added penetration and to increase blood flow (skin plumping), cover mask with
two ice-cold, wet towels from your refrigerator.
5) Skin Recovery Mask and Moisture Mask are both great hydrating masks that don’t
have to be entirely removed from your skin so after masking, simply massage the
rest of the mask until absorbed by your skin.

Introduction Using Skin Blends
Facial Products at Home

EYE CLEANSER
1) Apply a nickel sized amount of Eye Cleanser onto a wetted cotton pad or
Skin Blends Super Soft Facial Cloth.
2) Gently rub eye area to cleanse and remove eye make up.
3) Repeat until all traces of make up have been removed.
4) Use new cotton and repeat procedure to cleanse make up from other eye.
Tip — For stubborn waterproof eye makeup, use a skin appropriate Lipid Synergy
Serum and follow directions above.

CLEANSER
1) Apply a quarter sized amount of cleanser to face, neck and chest using upward,
circular massage motions.
2) Add a little water and massage some more.
3) To thoroughly remove cleanser, use wetted Super Soft Facial Cloth or Cleansing

Sponge (both are available from Skin Blends) or wetted cotton pads.
4) For deeper cleansing, apply cleanser again, and use Skin Blends Facial Brush to

loosen dead skin cells to reveal younger plumper more youthful skin cells.
Repeat step 2.
5) Cleanse, then tone face, neck and chest every morning and evening to prepare
skin for specialty serum(s), hydrators, sunscreens and/or moisturizers.
Tip — For especially dry skin, cleanse twice: first with a Dry Skin Lipid Synergy Serum and
again with Cream E Cleanser.
TONER
1) After cleansing, dispense a quarter sized amount of toner onto a wetted cotton pad
and apply liberally to face, neck and chest to refresh and cleanse.
2) Stroke upward on the skin. This toning step helps remove residual cleanser and
brings the skin’s pH back into balance. Repeat as necessary.
3) While the skin is damp — therefore more absorbent — apply Synergy Serum(s)
and/or Hydrating Gel.
Toning Spritzer Option

You can choose to add a sprayer to your toner (not recommended for Purifying
Toner as it has salicylic acid and should not be sprayed near eyes). Spray
liberally on entire area (face, neck and chest). Use a spritzing toner after
applying Mineral Blends mineral make up to set the natural powders for the day.
Foaming Toner Option
You can choose to put your toner in a Foamer Bottle and apply the foam
anywhere you want to impart the properties of the toner on your skin. Hydrating
Toner will impart immediate hydration where ever it is applied, and is perfect for
dehydrated legs and arms.

VITAMIN C CRYSTALS
1) To apply, dispense crystals onto your palm
2) Add a pump or two of your skin appropriate Serum or Hydrating Gel.
3) Massage crystals and serum/gel mixture onto face, neck and chest until crystals
dissolve.

NOTE — It is important to use Vitamin C every morning prior to or with other treatment
serums as it improves their penetration for better results on your skin. Skin Blends also
has a 10% Vitamin C Serum or a 20% Super C Serum. See Serum instructions on page 9.

8 WARNING— Do not mix crystals with Retinol Plus or Alpha Beta X (too aggressive).

ALPHA BETA X (ABX) Introduction
1) Dispense a dime sized amount onto palm, at night after cleansing and toning.
2) Apply by massaging onto face, neck and chest, avoiding eye lid area. Call toll-free: 1-877-754-6253 (UPS-SKINBLENDS)
3) Follow with Serums, Hydrating Gel, and Moisturizer.
TIPS — You will want to use ABX and other exfoliating products at night, during the 9
body’s rest and repair process. Because ABX is able to penetrate into the follicle
openings, it is especially helpful at preventing ingrown hairs after waxing or shaving.
ABX can be used on the whole body, especially on areas of dead skin cell build up like
elbows, knees, and feet. ABX is also a remedy for those little red bumps that some
people get on the back of their arms and legs (keratosis pilaris is the medical name for
harmless yet annoying skin condition).
WARNNING - If allergic to aspirin, do not use this product because it has salicylic acid.

SERUMS (BOTANICAL, VITAMIN C, and SUPER SYNERGY SERUMS)
1) Dispense a pump or two of condition-targeted & skin-appropriate Serum onto palm.
2) Apply to face, neck and chest by gently massaging with fingertips.
3) When layering, which is a great technique, first apply Vitamin C Serums, followed by
Botanical Synergy Serums and/or Super Synergy Serums.
NOTE — Retinol Plus is a powerful product. It should be used only at night and, in the
beginning, only twice a week. (Start with Wednesday and Sunday). Because Retinol
Plus offers cumulative benefits, using it every day isn’t necessary.

HYDRATING GEL - Step 1 of our 2-part DAY TIME and NIGHT TIME Moisturizing System
1) Each morning and evening, after serums have absorbed, dispense a nickel sized
amount of Hydrating Gel onto palm.
2) Apply by gently massaging onto face, neck and chest.

SUNSCREEN (SPF 30) - Step 2 of our 2-part DAY TIME Moisturizing System
1) After Hydrating Gel has had a chance to be absorbed a litle, dispense a quarter
sized amount of SPF 30 onto fingertips.
2) Spread out product by rubbing hands together.
3) Apply by FIRMLY PRESSING fingertips onto face, neck and chest. This should be done
EVERY morning to lock in hydration from serum(s) and hydrating gel, and to protect
your skin from the damaging ultraviolet rays of the sun.
TIP — During the day, our skin appropriate SPF 30 will be sufficient moisturizer for most.

LIPID SYNERGY SERUM (LSS)
1) To pre-cleanse dry skin, apply 1 pump of a LSS to entire area and then your regular
facial cleanser. As you remove the cleansing product, you will find your

skin will be left feeling sufficiently clean but even softer and smoother than usual.
2) To remove stubborn eye makeup, see directions on page 8.
3) For super dry skin, apply 1 pump of a LSS after Gel and before Moisturizer (at night).

MOISTURIZER- Step 2 of our 2-part NIGHT TIME Moisturizing System
1) After Hydrating Gel has had a chance to be absorbed a litle, apply a quarter sized
amount of skin-appropriate Moisturizer onto palm.
2) Spread Moisturizer to whole hands and apply liberally to face, neck and chest
EVERY evening by firmly pressing onto skin (locks in hydration from serum(s) and gel.
3) Gently massage product over area to ensure entire area has been protected.
TIP — To repair dry skin, mix Recovery Gel Mask or Moisture Mask with a little moisturizer
and apply before sleeping. You’ll wake up to replenished skin, and you’ll see for
yourself that using a mask dramatically improves the appearance of your skin.

SCRUB
1) Apply a quarter sized amount to face, neck & chest by massaging onto wetted skin.
2) Rinse thoroughly to remove all scrubbing particles.
TIP — For best results, keep scrubs in your shower for easier use and removal and use
on whole body. Follow with Body Lipids and Body Moist for super soft skin all over!

Basic Blends Cleansers

Proper cleansing is the first step to achieving and maintaining healthy skin. Cleansing removes
oily residue, dead skin cells, and waste by-products. Healthy skin requires cleansing your
face at least twice daily. Morning cleansing removes the overnight build-up of impurities
and airborne particulates. It’s also important to thoroughly rinse away your night treatment
products, so your day treatment products can work effectively. Cleansing skin at night
removes makeup, oils, bacteria, pollens, and pollutants. Our basic cleansers are color and

Toners Basic Blends

Proper toning is the second step to achieving and maintaining healthy skin. After cleansing,
apply toners to ensure you’ve properly removed all the cleanser. Depending on the
ingredients in the formula, toners may also rebalance, exfoliate, purify, or hydrate the skin.
Moist skin is more receptive to topically applied products, therefore using even the gentlest
cleanser, your skin will temporarily be without part of its natural barrier. This is the ideal time to
apply an astringent toner for oily skin, a balancing toner for combination skin, or an emollient
and soothing toner for dry and/or sensitive skin.

Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) vs. Beta Hydroxy Acids (BHAs)

Glycolic acid and lactic acid are both alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) while salicylic acid is
a beta hydroxy acid (BHA). Both AHAs and BHAs are wonderful exfoliants. AHAs work by
dissolving the intercellular glue that holds your skin cells together, thereby releasing the
cells. BHAs dissolve the intercellular fluid as well as the cell. The main difference between
AHAs and BHAs is that AHAs are water soluble, while BHAs are lipid (oil) soluble. Oil solubility
allows beta hydroxy acid to penetrate the pore that contains sebum and exfoliate the
dead skin cells that have accumlated inside the pore.

Acne is simply a genetic disease of the sebaceous hair follicle (sometimes called a pore).
Each follicle contains a tiny hair and a sebaceous gland, which starts producing sebum at
puberty. In non-acneic skin, sebum travels up the hair follicle to the skin’s surface. In acntteic
skin, the sebum gets trapped in the follicle. Enzymes from the bacteria split the sebum into
free fatty acids that badly irritate the skin. When a break in the cell wall occurs, the free fatty
acids and cellular debris cause inflammatory reactions.

Fragrances and Stress Reduction (MRI)
Physicians at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York have found that fragrance
can be used to lessen the distress patients may experience undergoing a magnetic
resonance imaging (MRI) procedure. The anxiety associated with this procedure can cause
up to 10% of patients to terminate their scans before completion. The 40 patients who were
exposed to a sweet vanilla fragrance while undergoing MRI scans experienced approximately
63% less overall anxiety than the control group, which was not exposed to the fragrance.

Fragrances and Menopause
Analyses of a study completed at Duke University Medical Center, by Dr. Susan Schiffman on
menopausal women showed an improved mood using fragrances, independent of whether
the subjects even liked the fragrances. When subjects liked the fragrances, which was 82% of
the time, all six Profiles of Mood States (tension, depression, anger, vigor, fatigue, and
confusion) and the total mood disturbance score numerically improved.

Our “Aroma Blends” are upscale and highly sophisticated fragrances developed by
our “Perfumer” specifically for use with our skin care products. We started with natural
components and modified and blended them for compatibility. The term “aroma” is
generally better received by the public than “fragrance” or “perfume.” It is interesting to
note that most consumers will state that they want “fragrance-free” products but when
given a choice, smell sells. Consumers generally prefer smells they find light and natural.

Note — FDA labeling guidelines allows “masking or covering fragrances” to be added to
cosmetics and not be listed on the label as long as they are used only to mask or cover
