Snapshot Autobiography

Snapshot Autobiography

Snapshots from the life of
Natalie

Birth

On my second day of life, I threw a big tantrum. I was
being held by my aunt when all of a sudden i got really
angry. My face turned red, i was growling, making weird
faces, and holding my breath. My mom said she was scared
and didn't know what to do. ¨Thank God your grandma
was there to help me out¨, she said. My grandma then
slapped my butt softly, but hard enough to make me stop
and breathe. My dad also said that he was shocked that i did
that and was very uncomfortable, due to the fact he's
never seen a baby do that.

Event 1

When i started playing softball in 2014, (3rd grade) I got hit in
the eye with a softball. I wasn't very experienced so when the ball
came I was scared which caused me to move my glove and get hit
in the face. I cried, put ice on it, ointments, etc., But i still got
a big bruise around my eye/eyebrow. It looked like somebody had
punched me or if you looked closer it kind of looked like
makeup. Since this happened I've learned to have tough skin and
not afraid of the ball which is essential in softball. I have
become a better player since then so, hopefully i don't get hit in
the face again.

Event 2

About two years ago, my grandma (dads mom) died. I wasn’t really
close to her so when she would come to visit from Mexico, I tried to
spend as much time as I could with her. She’s come to visit my siblings
and I about 3 to 4 times, which is not a lot. When she passed I was sad
because I didn’t get to build a bond with her and my dad was crying
which made me get even more sad. From this experience, I learned to
cherish every moment with my family considering that one day they
won’t be there. I also learned to be grateful that I have my parents
because some kids don’t. If I didn’t have them I don’t know what I
would do, which is why I now see things in a different perspective.

Event 3

Ever since, I was little I was very passionate about my
education. The one that pushed and still pushes me to
do my best is my mom. My mom always tells me her
expectations how things should be done. Sometimes I
get a little annoyed or irritated but, I know that she
wants the best for me. My mom has taught me that my
education will get me further in life and to take
pride in it. I am a student athlete which is very hard
but, easy knowing that this will pay off and make my
mom proud.
