an environmentally conscious “win-win” solution.

Advanced TrimWright (ATW), a leading PVC remanufac-
turer in the Northeast, provides Specialty Builder’s Supply with
PVC recycling containers at no cost. It even drops them off and
picks them up when full.

That would be a “win” by itself. But, Dias is taking his
program a next step. Not only is Specialty Builders’ Supply’s logo
affixed on the containers, but now he is including those of his cli-
ents, including Cape Associates, McPhee Associates of Cape Cod,
Polhemus Savery DaSilva and Rick Roy Construction.

“This way, the message is getting out into the community
loudly and clearly that the building industry does care deeply
about our Cape environment – and that you can balance economic
development with conservation,” he says. “Not only do we want
the public to see our concern, but we hope that other builders will
participate in the program and be recognized with their logos for
such a commitment.”

“It’s communicating our shared corporate values and con-
cerns,” says Dias. “The amount of PVC waste collected in one of
my containers equals about 50,000 plastic bottles. It needs to be
recycled; and this program addresses that straightforwardly. We
can rest assured that the PVC waste we collect in these containers
will be ground up and used in new product.”

Incorporating Cape Cod original art into building and remodeling projects

Home builders and remodelers across the Cape are partnering with some of the region’s
most talented and creative artists to provide clients with uniquely customized interiors,
exteriors and features that celebrate materials ranging from metal, wood and stone
to clay, glass and even concrete – embellished with
decorative paintings and textiles.

refinishing, replacement of damaged pieces and
teaching classes for the next generation of woodcarvers. He
has published books on eagle carving and traditional cape cod
sign carving. He has a six-foot eagle located on the top of the
old city Hall in Boston, and others in philadelphia and as far away as
california.

His recent work includes matching a two-foot-high pineapple carving for
the federated church in Hyannis, for one damaged after Hurricane irene swept
through new england. He replaced a carved sign knocked down by a car and
pineapples atop historic fence posts. The small fence-top pineapples involved
carving a wooden mold, and then making the pineapples out of resin.

“we haven’t had a client who wanted something carved that we couldn’t do,”
white said. “if you can imagine it, we can carve it.”

“somebody came in and wanted a coat of arms carved, and we did it,” white
added.

With five part-time staffers, his studio also turns out architectural elements for
buildings and for period furniture makers.

“There hasn’t been a day in my life when i haven’t loved to do this,” white
added. “i sent my daughter in Boulder, colorado, a check to buy my grandson a
