A Letter from Suzanne“Suni”Mackall
President, Clarke County Education Foundation, Inc.
Welcome!
A lot has changed and a lot has stayed the same since I wrote the Gala letter
last year. Last year I spoke of “gruesome acts of terrorism” and the “senseless kill-
ing of innocent people, including police officers.” Regrettably, I could assert the
same statement this year and add a statement about the natural disasters across
the globe including epic weather events in Texas, Florida, and the Caribbean,
which remind us of the massive forces of nature.
Interfaced throughout the tragedies, however, are people acting heroically,
demonstrating love and strength and courage in actions and deeds in each little
community, street by street, house by house, door by door. People helping their
neighbors, despite differences in any political views, race, gender, sexual orienta-
tion, criminal history or age. People wanting to help if they can. Our communi-
ties reflect the people in it.
Here at the Clarke County Education Foundation (“CCEF”) we celebrate this
Clarke County Community tonight and our community partners. A thriving and
robust public school system is a bolt of energy to any community. Thriving public
schools, with its students energized and engaged, to make our community stronger.
Please show your support for the CCEF, a non-profit 501C(3) organization
which has raised over a million dollars since its inception, and used that money to
provide countless scholarships to students, fund science and technology instruc-
tion and provide grants to teachers such as Philip Facemire, who was awarded a
grant for over $17,000.00 for an Apple computers proposal.
The more money we raise, the more we can enhance the learning opportunities
for our Clarke County students.

Thank you for coming!
Sincerely,

Suzanne L. Mackall, President

A Personal Note from Dr. Chuck Bishop

Dear Friends,
Welcome to the 20th annual Clarke County Education Foundation Celebra-
tion! Since its inception in 1991, the Clarke County Education Foundation
has been committed to promoting and expanding educational opportunities
for Clarke County students in grades PK-12. Twenty-six years later, the
CCEF has distributed over $2.5 million to support educational program-
ming, technology initiatives, student and staff scholarships, facility up-
grades and various community programs and events. The Foundation is
truly a lifeline for public education in our community.
On behalf of the Clarke County School Board, thank you for your commit-
ment to supporting our students, our staff and our school division. Your
generous contributions to the Clarke County Education Foundation contin-
ue to positively impact the education of every student in our schools.
Sincerely,

Dr. Chuck Bishop
Superintendent
