Bucklers Mead academy

Since 2013 Notts Sport have completed various sites in South Somerset, and as a result of
these successful projects we were contacted by Bucklers Mead to resurface their existing
3G pitch.
Following its complete synthetic turf resurface, the academy and leisure centre now has
the largest third generation pitch in the region, with the likes of Yeovil Town Ladies and the
Latvian International team using it for training sessions. The facility is now booked every
evening from 6pm - 10pm when it is completely full for the whole of winter.
The facility was carefully planned with dividing nets and cross pitch markings in order to
maximise revenue from pitch rentals, and the sports centre are currently able to charge up
to £80 for 90 minutes of use on match days.
As the synthetic sports turf industry’s resurface specialists, Notts Sport’s Multi-Sport team
were able to provide the academy with complete design consultation and advice for the
duration of the project.

The pitch has made a massive
difference to the school kids
and the community. Notts Sport
were a really easy company to
work with, taking a lot off my
workload, and the job was 100%
done correctly. It was excellent.

WARDEN PARK ACADEMY

Warden Park Academy’s state of the art ShockWave EcoBase 3rd generation (3G) pitch is
designed for both competitive Rugby and Football, as the ShockWave jigsaw-like tiles that
form the foundation are built to absorb impact from high contact sports, in full compliance
to FIFA and World Rugby performance requirements.
The unique ShockWave technology is unrivalled in sport for Rugby performance and safety,
where concussion and impact injury is becoming an increasing issue.
Colin Young, Managing Director at Labosport, comments “ShockWave EcoBase provides
unique performance for 3rd Generation (3G) pitches due to the unrivalled combined results
across key areas such as shock absorbency, critical fall height and deformation. Based on
the testing we have undertaken there is no other system that offers a 2.3m critical fall height
for World Rugby (Reg. 22) compliance.”
The Warden Park pitch was funded through our unique Fast Track Funding initiative, where
capital costs are spread over 7 years and repayments can be made through revenue
generated from pitch rentals.
The facility has now attained World Rugby compliance and FA approval, listed on the
3G Football Turf Pitch Register, and is regularly booked by local sports clubs, including
Cuckfield FC, AFC Haywards, Pink Flamingos FC and Lindfield Juniors FC. Pro Direct Soccer
Academy will also be based at Warden Park, while Sussex County FA is planning to use the
facility for coach development courses.
Lawrence Dallaglio, former England Rugby captain, was in attendance at the grand
opening, and had plenty of praise for the new pitch: “The new pitch is fantastic. It will be a
huge inspiration for the kids, giving them a lot of enthusiasm for playing sport. The benefits
of having the ‘all-weather’ facility to be able to train on and play on is a huge advantage: a
day like today - when there’s been a big downpour of rain - would probably have made
the pitch unplayable for the next couple of days.”
“I can’t believe how quickly it’s gone up, the contractors have done an amazing job in such
a short time. It’s a wonderful facility which will make young people more enthusiastic about
getting out and playing sport.”

It’ll be great for the school, the
kids and the coaches, but also for

the local community.
it’s booked up by everyone who

lives in the area, it’s been a
fantastic project.

ShockWave

& ShockWave EcoBase

Labosport Ltd have worked with Notts Sport in the development of the
ShockWave EcoBase system since 2014; in the research and development
stages, laboratory testing and in the post completion field testing since its
launch.
Based on the testing we have undertaken, there is no other system that
offers a 2.3m critical fall height for World Rugby (Reg. 22) compliance
(requirements of 1.3 m) while at the same time providing good performance
for shock absorptions and vertical deformation.
Normally a critical fall height of 2.3m would result in a very soft and tiring
surface that would struggle to meet the shock absorption and deformation
requirements. ShockWave does not have this problem which is currently
unique from our testing experiences.
Labosport believes innovation is key to sustained success by driving
quality, and ShockWave EcoBase sets a new benchmark for artificial turf
sports systems.
We are pleased to have been part of the ShockWave development and
its ongoing success, and we look forward to seeing many pitches in the
future using ShockWave technology.
