LETTER FROM
THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

As we celebrate 30 years as a independently formed
organization, we take this opportunity to celebrate and
salute entrepreneurs that have taken the courageous steps
to transform an idea to make it a reality.

We are excited about the conference this year with the host of great speakers and
panelists presenting new concepts, strategies and examples of how to live out the
theme of the conference this year, Building a Diverse and Inclusive Economy: The
Path Forward for Sustainable Growth. This theme resonates with both of our
membership bases, corporate and M/WBEs.

One of the many actionable outcomes of the conference is to shift the emphasis of
the conversation around diversity to focus on inclusion and the work it takes to be
intentionally inclusive.

We thank our Host sponsors, Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare and iHeart
Radio and the many other sponsors and partners that support the conference and
the ongoing work that we do to make an economic impact.

We hope that you will take advantage of all that the Economic Development
Forum has to offer and make it a priority to attend the seminars and participate
in the Power Zone. Make it a goal to leave with at least one new strategy for your
business or corporation and make at least one new contact.

We are excited about your participation and hope that you make the most of your
time.

Sincerely,
Jozelle Luster Booker
President & CEO

LETTER FROM
U.S. CONGRESSMAN, STEVE COHEN

June 18, 2019

Dear Friends,
On behalf of the constituents of Tennessee’s 9th Congressional District, it is my honor to welcome you to the
2019 Mid-South Minority Business Council Continuum (MMBCC) Economic Development Forum.

The theme for this year’s forum is “Building a Diverse & Inclusive Economy: The Path Forward for
Sustainable Growth”.

Your effort and your vision as the owners of small businesses provide lifeblood to the economic
development of our community and our nation.

I worked for several years to bring the Minority Business Development Agency Business Center to
Memphis. It has been one of my top priorities for much of my time in Congress, as it assists local minority
business owners in the pursuit of contracts and capital, which will help you compete in the global economy.

Again, I welcome you to the 2019 Mid-South Minority Business Council Continuum (MMBCC) Economic
Development Forum. I have the utmost confidence that you will find this to be a rewarding experience.

As always, I remain,
Most sincerely,

Steve Cohen
Member of Congress
