“In 1965, a small group of
determined volunteers sought to turn the
area’s reputation of drought-stricken fields into
visions of abundant greenery and sparkling lakes.
The transformation was deliberate. Neighbors
joined with neighbors to form a multi-county
organization to promote the attractions in eastern
and northeastern Oklahoma.”
“The founders of ‘Green Country’ set out to create
a model economic development program where private
enterprise joined hands with state and federal agencies in
1965 to improve the economy in the largely depressed counties
of eastern Oklahoma”.1
The organization:

The “Green Country” program has proven that people, working in the private enterprise system,
can improve their economic and social problems by uniting with a common purpose and pooling
their resources and talents.
Today, “Green Country” continues to promote 18 counties of Northeast Oklahoma by joining forces
with our members, the Oklahoma Tourism & Recreation Department and 10 other lake and country
associations, in a unified effort that will increase the economic impact of tourism dollars that now exceeds
2.4 BILLION dollars annually.

event, attraction or business Show
Email, TV, radio, newspaper Bartlesville, Okla. -- The Friends of the Frank Phillips Home invite the
public to “Vintage Memories” Tea and Fashion Show on Saturday,
September 26, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Tri County Technology Center.
While enjoying tea and delicious treats, guests will be entertained
by a group of historical interpreters modeling vintage clothing from
the late 1800s through the 1940s, according to Kim Goss of the
Home. Mrs. Martha Ray, retired Director of Historic Homes for the
Oklahoma Historical Society, will be narrating stories and facts about
each costume exhibited.
This juried group of models travel throughout Oklahoma and
adjoining states exhibiting the vintage fashions, Goss said. In
addition to the fashion show, several fun “surprises” are planned for
the afternoon.
Admission to the tea and show is $25 per person. Proceeds from
the tea will benefit the Frank Phillips Home.
The Friends of the Frank Phillips Home is a nonprofit organization
started in 1992 to raise funds for restoration of the Home.
