We are too far down the Deweyite trail and those who should fix it (the people who are established in place think of them- selves, whether they are faithful or not or even aware of it) are the owners of the public educational establishment. They don’t know how to fix it, be- cause they have been mis-educated themselves. The only thing they could propose is more of what made it wrong.” Parents,teachers and administrators have been deceived for decades.
Markwell further quizzed, “How do we get rid of the burgeoning educa- tional bureaucracy?” Coulson declared, “We need a parental choice initia- tive.” Some parents have taken charge by home schooling and forming private schools. However, the federal government, in collusion with the NEA, has worked to stifle departure from the public school system by deny- ing support for parent choice.
