 Declaring His Glory!

The Super Moon of 2016 made headlines and drew lots of attention,
many folks gathered at dusk and dawn to see this heavenly phenomena.
The Super Moon occurs when the moon is at its fullest and closest to
Earth; the last time was 68 years ago and astrologers say it will not
happen again until Nov. 25, 2034.

We know from Gen. 1:14-19, the lesser light rules the night and is a
sign for seasons, and for days and years. But what does the moon really
represent?

The moon has no inherent light, what we see at night is the moon
reflecting the light given off by the greater light, the Sun. The same is
true with us, because of God’s grace, we are redeemed and now shine
the light of Christ Jesus in our lives. We are image-bearers of the
Greater Light (John 8:12) and commanded to let our light shine for God’s
glory!

“For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in
our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in

the face of Jesus Christ.” (2 Corinthians 4:6 ESV)

Declaring
 His Glory!

FBC Garden Lakes held multiple events on Monday, October 31 to declare
the glory of God. Over a dozen members participated in the Trunk-or-
Treat at the church campus and had Gospel encounters with over 80 folks.

There were five Light Up The Night (LUTN) locations in Avondale
neighborhoods hosted by FBCGL church members. Families set up a game
or activity for the trick-or-treat families to stop and
participate. Over ___ “hand-y” bags were given away
to kids, the treats included a Gospel tract for kids, a
Christian pencil and stickers, little pumpkin erasers
and of course candy!

Our community engagement opened up a donation
from a local comic book store who gave us comics to
give away to kids at each LUTN house.

Each house also distributed family info bags which
contained a Life Book Gospel of John, church and
ministry brochures and a Gospel tract. Over ____
families received the Good News this year.

The church made many new contacts in the
neighborhoods, and are praying for folks who stopped
to come and worship.

 Declaring His Glory!

At Project Connect 2016…We fed the hungry, a total of 494 meals.  We
ministered to the homeless, at least 227 homeless people registered, and
many more showed up but did not register.  We gave away backpacks with
hygiene products inside.  We offered free showers, flu shots, bike repair,
prayer, Bibles, clothes, and job training.  Non-profit agencies were here to
help, like CareFirst, Set Free Ministries, Phoenix Rescue Mission, etc.  We
had local politicians and government staffers showed up, including a Mayor,
Vice-Mayor, Police Chief, City Councilmen, and a Clerk from Senator
Flakes Office, and numerous others from Avondale. We had Government
agencies were here to help, such as DES, SS, VA, DMV, etc.

All of it was a ministry planned by the Valley of the Sun United Way and
hosted and manned by volunteers from FSBCA.

Q - Why do we do this?

A - We do it because we love people.  And we do it because we love Jesus.

The EBA has used copies of the three-
year 2012-15 Curriculum for the Gospel
Project for both Children and Preschool
age classes.

These can be used by
churches for FREE!

There is enough material for:
• Children: 2-3 classes of older, 2-3 classes of younger; with posters, CD's, and leader kits

• Preschool: 2 classes of each age 3yr through 5-K; with CD’s, leader kits, and supplies

Please notify Twila immediately if you would like to use these materials for your church; they
are undated so they can be started ANY time, (i.e, the beginning in January).

This is a wonderful opportunity for churches who love their children but have limited
resources to have high quality teaching materials.

An unsolicited promotion by a satisfied church…

At The Way Fellowship Church, we have been using The Gospel Project curriculum
for our elementary aged children's ministry and found it to be well suited to teaching
school aged children.  Our elementary age children's workers have also expressed a
desire to continue using this material in years to come.

Two elements of The Gospel Project curriculum that are particularly beneficial:
(1)The material is aligned to teach the major stories of the bible over a three year

period.  It starts in Genesis and ends in Revelation, attempting to be as
comprehensive as is possible in three years.  This helps children to see an
overarching view of scripture and not simply stick to one portion of the Bible.
(2)The Gospel Project points children toward Jesus no matter what the text of scripture.
The authors are intentional about showing how Old Testament events and figures
foreshadow Christ.
If you are searching for elementary aged teaching material,
I would recommend trying The Gospel Project.
