WORK OF ITS RESIDENTS

The Inn on the Pond is launching a new initiative to showcase the vibrant artwork of its residents
by featuring them in an art exhibit every month.

“Our residents have such amazing life stories and hidden talents that not many people are aware
of. I wanted to give them an opportunity to showcase that talent and share those stories with the
community,” said John Kramer, director of community life at The Inn on the Pond.

Ruth Krantz, Bernie Herman and Cheerie O’Rear were the first residents to host their exhibits,

MENORAH MANOR HOSTS “YOU-NIVERSITY” CLASSES FOR RESIDENTS

Learning never gets old at Menorah Manor.

Menorah Manor YOU-niversity is a new program that gives residents of Menorah
Manor’s three communities the opportunity to take classes in a university-style setting.

Students at Menorah Manor YOU-niversity will take nine classes that cover a diverse
range of topics and have local angles. Experts and scholars from the area will be hired as
faculty to teach the enrolled student body, offering participants the chance to gain
knowledge on a variety of fascinating and engaging topics. Faculty members are hired to
teach a one-hour lecture, prepare an outline for their course and provide at least one
article for enrolled students to read prior to their lecture.

“Menorah Manor YOU-niversity keeps with the ancient Jewish tradition of engaging in
life-long learning,” said Menorah Manor’s director of spiritual care, Rabbi Leah Herz.
“Continuing education is very important to our residents, and we’re excited to bring them
this wonderful new program.”

Menorah Manor YOU-niversity began March 2016, beginning with a professional
photographer teaching a class on how to compose a terrific shot. Upcoming scholars include
the local paper’s food critic discussing her experience critiquing restaurants, a sailing expert,
and the director of a local stage company teaching about the history of theater.

The next classes take place on June 6, July 11, August 8, September 12, October 10
and November 14. Upon completing the program, students will receive Menorah Manor
YOU-niversity diplomas at a graduation ceremony in December. This program was made
possible by an Innovation Grant from the Jewish Federation of Pinellas and Pasco Counties.
