WELCOME

Thank you for taking the time to read our inaugural brochure.
There is a feeling of great excitement and anticipation at Cambridge Stud,
where Brendan and Jo Lindsay have taken the opportunity to build on the
foundations laid by Sir Patrick and Justine Lady Hogan.
Foundations that were established by three champion stallions and 134
individual Gr.1 winners - a record that is yet to be broken. We remember the
great graduates as well – Octagonal, Surround, Grosvenor, Sovereign Red,
Tristarc and Gurner’s Lane.
The purchase of European Champion Almanzor is a bold statement of the
new owners’ commitment to maintaining the quality of the Cambridge Stud
stallion roster. A roster which currently features leading sire Tavistock, along
with promising young sire prospects Burgundy and Highly Recommended.
If thoroughbred history is defined by great racehorses and racing events, then
those horses and events are defined by great people. We will continue to seek
out and employ the best and most passionate people, who love and understand
thoroughbreds, to teach them, and to play our part in ensuring that the New
Zealand industry stands tall on the international stage.

We are a highly motivated couple who share an immense passion for the racing
industry and are very fortunate to have an extremely talented and experienced
team of people to assist us in advancing Cambridge’s fine tradition of Group
One success.
Our decision to purchase Cambridge Stud and to invest in four exciting sire
prospects Almanzor, Age of Fire, Embellish and Highly Recommended to
complement our existing top sires Tavistock and Burgundy underlines our
commitment to New Zealand’s thoroughbred industry. Our desire for the iconic
brand to both remain and thrive in New Zealand hands.
World-renowned for the champion stallions Sir Tristram and his son Zabeel,
Cambridge Stud has forged an incredible record as a breeding powerhouse
under the direction of Sir Patrick and Justine Lady Hogan. It is quite remarkable
to think that stallions on the Cambridge Stud roster have been responsible for
no less than 134 individual Group One winners worldwide.
Cambridge will undergo a major refurbishment over the next three years,
including the upgrade of the recently acquired adjoining Thorpe property to
cater for our expanding stallion roster. We will continue to operate Cambridge
as a premier stallion and broodmare operation emulating the success of the
past 40 years, while our Karaka farm will be integrated with the stud, carrying
mares and foals to support the racing operation.
Together we can ensure that New Zealand breeding and racing will continue to
be highly respected and attractive to the racing industry worldwide.
