An interactive system requires three
main components: a display, a means
of interacting with it, and a computer
and software to process the results.

Display

The traditional hardware was an inter-
active whiteboard – a combination of
touch-sensitive surface and short-
throw projector – but this has largely
been superseded by interactive flat
panels and interactive projectors.

Most popular are interactive flat
panels which are simple to install,
require little maintenance and use less
energy than rival technologies. They
cope well with high levels of ambient
light, often have built-in audio, and can
operate at the highest resolutions –
