Thrivent Financial Awarded
2020 Business of the Year

On Thursday, February 20, 2020, a sold out crowd of more than 750 individuals gathered at the Pasadena Convention Center for
the Pasadena Chamber’s Annual State of the City Address, featuring Mayor Jeff Wagner, and announcing the 2020 Business of
the Year: Thrivent Financial.

“I want to thank the Chamber and the Chamber staff for all they do here in the community. We are honored to have been
chosen as the Business of the Year. I can’t say enough about the city of Pasadena. The best times are still ahead of us, and we
just want to be a small part of that process; helping all the people that are in need and get to the point where they are living
stable and secure lives so they can thrive here in the community. Thank you so much.” said James Guthrie of Thrivent Financial
after accepting the award.

As members of the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce since 2003, Thrivent Financial has been involved in sponsoring various
events and is a wonderful example of a Chamber partner. Chambers focus on providing local businesses and organizations
a platform to share resources and collaborate for the betterment of the community and commerce, and Thrivent Financial
has been a pivotal part of this focus. Not only do they help people achieve financial clarity, enabling lives full of meaning and
gratitude, they work tirelessly to make a positive difference in the community they serve through their generosity supporting
programs such as Salvation Army, The Bridge Over Troubled Waters, Armand Bayou Nature Center, and Pasadena Habitat for
Humanity to name a few.

One example of their impact is awarding ten home builds through their partnership with Habitat Pasadena over the past 13
years.

Thrivent Financial and its team members are active in serving more than 15 non-profit organizations in our region. In addition to
their extensive work in the community, they have been named one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies for the last 8 years for
their commitment to ethical leadership, compliance practices, and governance and corporate citizenship.

For these reasons and many more, the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce is proud to name Thrivent Financial as the 2020
Business of the Year.

March IMPACT Pasadena Update: Created In Partnership By:
2020 Legacy Sponsors:
On Tuesday, February 25, IMPACT Pasadena had its “Community
Foundations Day.” The group had the pleasure of having Steve Cote, FPahmeliplsy
Chairman of the Pasadena Economic Development Corporation,
join them for an interactive discussion and Q&A on an overview of
the PEDC, current projects, challenges and insight on what the future
of Pasadena holds. The group also took a special guided bus tour of
Pasadena featuring facilitators Lucy Turoff with the Pasadena Historical
Society, Dr. Troy McCarley with PISD, Sheena Salvino with PEDC, and
Dr. Allatia Harris with San Jacinto College. The tour covered the entire
city stretching from the Washburn tunnel to El Jardin Beach and
showcased the city’s history, redevelopment opportunities, housing
options, education, and the petrochemical industry to name a few.
The group also got to hear from TIP Strategies on some highlights from
the PEDC’s Strategic Plan that laid the foundation to the data behind
driving change and a focus on economic development for our region
to position Pasadena for prosperity.

The day ended with a networking reception with the 2019 IMPACT
graduated class to begin to extend the network of leaders the program
strives to cultivate! A special thank you to the legacy sponsors of
impact Pasadena and your investment to cultivating the next group of
innovative leaders for the city of Pasadena.

Ambassador Spotlight

Robert Callahan | Partners in Primary Care

For the last 25 years, I’ve had the privilege of working as a private business
owner in the healthcare industry in both Mexico and Texas. I’m a University
of Houston graduate; and am a father to two wonderful children. Today, I
serve as a Market Director for Community Outreach in Texas and Louisiana for
Partners in Primary Care (Partners), which provides high-quality, senior-focused
primary care to members of Medicare Advantage health plans. I’m involved
with the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce as a member of the Ambassador
Committee and the Community in Action Committee and have participated
in several events and programs that have benefited myself and my company.

I became an Ambassador in order to expand to my network of business
contacts and meet new business owners and managers to create synergy
between Partners, Chamber member organizations and the community. The Chamber has provided an
excellent avenue for Partners in Primary Care to make valuable connections to community based organizations,
businesses, and local government officials that could benefit from our senior-focused primary care model.

Thank You Thursday

“Thank You Thursday” is an initiative we started in an effort to show gratitude to our loyal
members who have been with us for many, many years. Our staff and Ambassadors
surprise a few members with a Facebook Live video & gifts once per month.

Congrats to the following businesses and thank you for
your partnership with the Pasadena Chamber.
Ditta Meat Food Service Co. - 54 Years
Clark Freight Lines - 26 Years
Texas Dow Employees Credit Union - 25 Years

Thank you to our Ambassadors who donated prizes to give
away to these very deserving members.
