Message From the Chairman

Dear Chamber Members,

Well here we are, Spring is almost over and
Summer is about to begin. April was a busy
month for the Chamber. The Cultural Arts
Committee had their annual “Spelling Bee” for
Pasadena Independent School District
students and the Chamber’s 7th Annual
“Rugged Race” was a huge success. I’m so
proud of the relationship between our
Chamber and PISD. Pasadena residents are
blessed to have such a stellar school district. I
want to thank the Chamber staff and all of you
who supported these events.

1 Pasadena Chamber of Commerce

The Pasadena Hispanic Business Council’s “Breakfast
Workshop” was hosted by the new Bayway Chrysler, Dodge,
Jeep dealership on the Pasadena Freeway. The subject was
marketing on the internet and the workshop was very well
attended. Many thanks to Bayway for hosting and best of
luck at your new location!

The April Chamber luncheon at the Silver Sycamore featured
Mark Rush, CPA with Ham, Langston & Brezina and my
associate at Thrivent Financial, Jerry Roth, CFP. They gave a
presentation summary on the new “Tax Cuts & Jobs Act” and
went into detail how the tax law changes will impact business
owners as well as individuals. Mark, Jerry, Attorney Kim
Hegwood and myself will be follow up with a “Lunch and
Learn” at the Chamber offices on May 22nd dealing with how the tax law
changes will impact estate planning.

Our “Industrial Appreciation Golf Tournament” will be held May 14th at Timber Creek Golf Club.
Congratulations to our Industry of the Year, BASF Pasadena. If you haven’t done so already
please plan to participate by playing, sponsorship or both. I want to thank Mark Rush for
chairing the tournament committee this year.

Many other events are on the calendar. Our May Membership Luncheon will be held May 24th
at Silver Eagle Distributors. And look forward to our Cultural Arts Committee’s “Theater Night”

July 12th, featuring the Deer Park - Art Park
Players. This year’s play will be the musical
comedy “The Wedding Singer”.

Once again thank you for your support of
the Pasadena Chamber. Please take time to
introduce yourself to the staff and consider
volunteering for one of our many
committees. Committee involvement is one
of the best ways to develop relationships in
our community and the Chamber.

Looking forward to a very wonderful
summer.

The Best,

James Guthrie

Ambassador Spotlight - Crystal Guillen-Rios

I am a Marketing Director with World Financial Group, and market
financial solutions for reputable financial companies nationwide. My
journey started selling home and auto insurance, and immediately fell
in love with customer service. I’ve been in the industry for 8 years now,
and enjoy helping families in the community to be more knowledgeable
as to how money works and have money work for them. At such a young
age, I have always wanted to have my own business and give back to the
community. Now being a business owner it’s time to give back and what a
better way than being part of this great organization.

From the first meeting of Membership 101 I saw value in what the
Pasadena Chamber does for the community, and knew I could fit right in.
Being part of the Chamber and Ambassador I’m happy to have met more
local businesses that make Pasadena GREAT! As an active member in my
church ministries now I know more businesses to recommend. My
ultimate goal is to show you how to make money and save money.

Business Honor Roll

We applaud these individuals, organizations, and firms that have renewed their financial commitment to the
growth of our community through their continued investment in the chamber. We appreciate each and every
one of you. Congratulations on celebrating your anniversary this month!
