Message From the Chairman

Dear Chamber Members,
I am honored to be a part of all the cool things
happening at the Chamber, the most exciting one to
me being IMPACT Pasadena.
During the last several chamber board retreats,
the Chamber members discussed the need for a
leadership program. When the Pasadena Economic
Development Corporation approached us about
doing one as a part of their strategic plan, it got us
off the bench. We all agreed though that we wanted
it to be way more than your typical leadership class.
It must be sustainable and next level in all aspects.
The team knew we were on to something great as
we began planning and it got exponentially better
when Dr. Brenda Hellyer, Mr. Ben Meador and Ryan
Sitton came on board as legacy sponsors. They pretty
much came to bat with blind faith. Later, the Port
generously stepped up and joined the cause as well.

As IMPACT Chairman, Allatia Harris’s vision and her experience with Collective Impact
was introduced, it was a huge win for the program. Rick Torrison came to the table with
a wealth of leadership skills and a willingness to serve. These two helped get us to the
level we were all hoping to achieve.

We also created a Mentor Program to enrich the experience of the participants. We
knew that our first set of Mentors had to set the stage of both experience and leadership.
Finally, all that was left was the need for next level candidates to apply who understood
their historic role. We hit a home run on both.

Another initiative we wanted to tackle was the effectiveness of the Board Member retreats.
We wanted to draw from our experience with IMPACT and examine what usually comes
from the retreats. The overwhelming consensus was that many great ideas are presented, but they don’t
always come to fruition. To battle this dilemma, we decided to plan workshops before the retreat. This
way, the focus of the retreat could be the implementation of the ideas generated in the workshops. Man,
it worked! Our board is full of sharp people who want to give back.

A few highlights from this collaboration include the formation of several new chamber committees:

• Membership Committee: Co-Chaired by Alix Fox and Gary Piana
The purpose is to develop strategic goals for membership growth and increase overall value for members
through industry specific focus.

• Connections Committee: Co-chaired by Melinda Torrison and Ken Phelps
The purpose is to host events that educate, inspire, and connect members together.

• Community In Action Committee: Chaired by Mike Cade
The purpose is to provide an avenue for nonprofit and church chamber members (the second largest
subset of chamber members) to share ideas and resources in order to better serve our community.

• Hispanic Task Force: A team put together
to establish the role the Chamber should play in
Hispanic business and community events.

To me, the most rewarding part of all of this has been
witnessing our Board Members putting their great
minds together to figure out how we can best serve
the community.

I appreciate all the folks who teed this opportunity
up for us. I truly feel we are going to make a long
lasting IMPACT for years to come and I am honored
to be a part of this journey. By the way, if you are
still reading this, I would love to have you as a guest
with a free ticket to the Breakfast with Champions
event on March 27th, so reach out and let me know
you made it through the end! Thank you again for
the opportunity.

Best,

Ken Phelps

2019 Business of the Year - PinnacleART

“Change the world.” One simple phrase inspired founders, Ryan and
Jennifer Sitton, when they formed PinnacleART (originally Pinnacle
Asset Integrity Services) in May 2006. More than a decade later and
this phrase is still the foundation for the company’s vision, “To make
the world reliable, one customer at a time.”

PinnacleART designs, implements, and maintains comprehensive asset
reliability and integrity programs for process facility owners in the oil
and gas, chemical, mining, pharmaceutical, wastewater, and electric
power industries, with the purpose of ensuring these facilities operate
reliably, safely, and efficiently. PinnacleART helps its clients mitigate
risk of downtime and loss of containment; optimize costs associated
with inspection, maintenance, and total asset spend; and ensure
compliance with regulatory standards.

PinnacleART celebrated 12 years as a business in May of 2018 and has
consistently been recognized as one of the fastest growing companies
in the Houston area. The company has been featured on lists such as
Houston Business Journal’s Fast 100 and the Inc. 5000 List of America’s
Fastest-Growing Private Companies (six years). In addition, PinnacleART
was recognized for seven consecutive years by Aggie 100, which honors
the 100 fastest growing Aggie-owned or Aggie-led businesses in the
world.

Although PinnacleART started in a Pearland warehouse, the incredible demand for asset integrity services led the
company to its current location at Venture Park, its 18-acre campus in Pasadena, Texas. The company, which has grown
to over 900 team members in over 12 years, constructed two new buildings at the Pasadena campus in 2018. The
campus now contains seven buildings total, with plans to further expand its infrastructure to keep up with rapid growth.

Involvement in the Pasadena community is something that PinnacleART truly exemplifies. PinnacleART employees
participate in a variety of local volunteer opportunities such as serving as mentors at local schools, participating in
company-hosted blood drives, providing support at homeless shelters, and cleaning up local streets and ditches.
PinnacleART has a Community Outreach program, made up of employees who coordinate volunteer events throughout
the year, and all employees are offered volunteer paid-time-off hours to use during business hours in support of
various causes.

In 2017, PinnacleART formed a partnership with Sarah’s House, a Pasadena-based organization providing emergency
shelter, meals, clothing, and basic necessities for homeless women and children. With this focused partnership,
PinnacleART supports Sarah’s House by performing facility repairs, donating IT equipment (computers, monitors,
printers), providing yard maintenance, offering clutter/debris clearing, donating supplies (clothes, shoes, toys, food,
toiletries, etc.), and assisting with fundraising. PinnacleART employees can also participate in a payroll deduction, which
will help Sarah’s House scale its operations. In addition, PinnacleART CEO, Stephen Powers, is now Chairman of the
Sarah’s House board and is the driving force behind the mission to expand the shelter’s capacity fourfold over the next
year and to eradicate homelessness in the Pasadena area.

Ambassador Spotlight - Belinda Burch

I am the Director of Sales and Marketing of the NEW Candlewood Suites Houston Pasadena Hotel.
We will have 81 rooms and a great mixture between doubles, singles, one-bedroom suites and
adjacent rooms to fit the need for any family who is traveling.

Our brand-new hotel will open in March 2019, and is the newest hotel in the Pasadena area and
has much to offer to travelers, whether you are in for the night or for months at a time. We have
full size refrigerators, stoves, dishwashers, pots, pans, plates etc. Free yourself of the hassle of the
change to do your laundry, as we have a coin free facility. We offer all the comforts of home.

We are like a corporate apartment with the amenities of a hotel. We offer corporate rate, group
rates, military rates, AAA, AARP and much more.

I have been part of the Pasadena Chamber for 2 years and in the Hospitality Industry for 15 years. The Pasadena Chamber
welcomed me with open arms as an Ambassador and helped me reach several of my largest accounts in a short amount
of time. As we are involved with any and all aspects of making our community the best it can be, AT ALL TIMES. They help
me build relationships, both business and personal, and for that I will be forever grateful. My success in this area couldn’t
reach the capacity it has without this organization.

The staff at the Pasadena Chamber has been a helping hand in so many avenues of my career, and I would highly
recommend becoming part of something bigger than expected.
