Practising Proper Decorum Emmanuel Lem
To ensure everyone has a great experience at the General Manager
Club, we seek members’ cooperation to observe
good etiquette and practise proper decorum
with regard to personal conduct. In recent
months, we had to serve warning letters to
members who had violated the code of conduct
as stipulated by the Club’s Bye Laws. We would
like to remind members that the Club does not
condone altercation of any kind or any form of
gambling activities within the Club’s premises,
amongst others. Members are reminded to
practise proper decorum at all times, treat our
staff with mutual respect and settle all matters
amicably.

We are excited to inform you of two new tenants

Practise more accessible and affordable to Singaporeans. With
Proper its rich history and heritage, the Club places paramount
Decorum importance on the necessity for members to practise
proper decorum and be civil to one another at all times.
While disagreements among members may occur at
times, matters should be resolved amicably through
communication and empathy. In light of recent
cases of altercations that had escalated to the Club’s
Disciplinary Committee, the Management would like to
urge members to take the initiative to be more mindful
and considerate while at the Club.
Practising Proper Decorum
The Club had received reports of cases of altercations
within its premises in recent months. These cases were
dealt with seriously by the Club and members involved
were issued warning letters as reminders to practise
proper decorum at the Club.
Members should settle any disputes amicably, and
practise proper decorum to avoid such altercations
going forward.
No Gambling
The Club does not condone any form of gambling
activities, whether involving stakes or not, on its
premises. Members are not allowed to gamble within
the Club’s premises.
Under the Club’s constitution Article 13.1, it is stipulated
that “Gambling of any kind, whether for stakes or not,
excluding the promotion or conduct of private lottery
which has been permitted under the Private Lotteries
Act, is forbidden in or around the Club Premises.”
“Cards/Mahjong Rooms” Clause 8 of the Club’s Social
Bye-Laws stipulates that “Gambling in any form is
strictly prohibited in the Cards/Mahjong room.”
Mutual Respect
In these past months, there were cases of verbal and
physical abuse towards the staff of the Club. While the
Club is committed to delivering quality service and
experiences for members, it is imperative for members
to treat the staff of the Club with mutual respect and
courtesy.
The Club reserves the rights to take action against
members involved in such cases of verbal and physical
abuse. Depending on the severity of the cases and the

decision of the Disciplinary and General Committees,
these members may face suspension of their memberships
and/or expulsion.
These are the Club’s Golf Bye-Laws:
• Article 21 Section 21.6, “Members and guests shall not

abuse any Club’s staff. Any complaints about any of
the Club’s staff shall be directed to the Management.”
• Article 22 Section 22.3, “Any member who breaches
any of the Bye-Laws contains herein may be referred
to the Disciplinary Committee.”
Safety On The Golf Course
The Club does not condone any form of misconduct that
will endanger others. Dangerous play on the golf course
is a serious misconduct that puts other players in harm’s
way. Whether it is intentional or unintentional as a result
of negligence, the Club reserves the right to subject
these golfers to serious disciplinary action, including a
suspension of at least 3 months.
Golfers are reminded that it is the back flight’s
responsibility to drive up and double-check that the
flight in front is out of range before teeing off. When
golfing, remember these M.S.A tips :
Maintain a good distance from the flight in front of you.
Take your own initiative to drive your buggy forward to
check on the flight and ensure that the golfers are out of
range.
Shout ‘Fore’ when you or your flight mates hit a bad shot
in the direction of another flight and if there is a danger
of hitting someone.
Apologise if you have accidentally engaged in dangerous
play. Take the extra effort of checking on the affected
golfers. A simple apology goes a long way.
The Club implores members to
continuously be gracious to
one another and to the staff of
the Club. Together, let’s ensure
the Club remains a safe haven
for members to build strong,
warm and friendly bonds with
one another, keeping to the
vision of being the leader
in golf and hospitality, and
delighting guests with a
uniquely Orchid experience!

UPGRADING OF GOLF COURSE

Upgrading works on Vanda Course are going
right on schedule for a new and improved turf!

The approaches on the course have been
reshaped, with greens re-contoured. This
upgrading has also allowed for all the
greens to be sand-capped and for a new
drainage system to be installed.

More trees have been transplanted to give

A NEW DRIVING RANGE
TEE-UP SYSTEM

System Upgrade/Phasing Out of SMART Range Card

Our Driving Range system is currently undergoing upgrading. All existing
SMART Range Cards will be phased out over a 12-month transition period from
4 Jan to 31 Dec 2021. With this system upgrade, all current cards will be
replaced by new RFID-enabled Range Cards.

Unused Stored Value

Unused value stored in your existing SMART Range Card
can be transferred to the new RFID-enabled Range Card at
the Driving Range Counter. Just present your existing
Range Card to our staff at the Driving Range Counter to do
the balance transfer. A fee of $5 plus GST will be charged
for every new Range Card purchased to do a balance
transfer. Cash refund of any unused value stored in the
existing SMART Range Cards is strictly not allowed.

No Transfer After Transition Period

As the existing machines and software will be fully
replaced after the completion of the upgrading project,
we will not be able to transfer any unused value in the
existing SMART cards after the 12-month transition period.

Lastly, if a dangerous shot has been executed,
approach the affected flight to apologise sincerely. Do
not engage in any physical or verbal arguments.

The Club will not hesitate to take stern actions against
members and guests for flouting any rules.

Players should play at a good pace. It is the flight’s

group.

When it is clear that the flight behind would be able to

Coffee Appreciation Workshop

Sun 24 Jan 2021

Coffee culture has been exponentially growing in popularity since
the early 2000’s. While modern and minimalistic coffee outlets
have sprouted all around the world, Singapore is known for having
traditional coffee houses with rich history and culture.
Members were specially invited to a hands-on coffee brewing
journey by the founder of “Kopi Lam”, from Nanyang Old Coffee.
They learnt about traditional coffee shop culture, colloquial coffee
shop lingo, and even had the opportunity to make their own cup of
kopi – all while seated in a nostalgic coffee museum.
Hope that the learning journey had left members with nothing but
sweet memories!

Excellent Staff and Service for Wedding

Dear Mr Ng

My wife, Jiezhi and I, would like to compliment the good service of Sheena (Sales/Main coordinator) for our
wedding and her team Daniel (AV Tech), Kumar & Lawrence (Banquet Team).

Sheena went the extra mile of giving us assurance and promptly responded to all our queries and needs prior
to the actual day of our wedding. Although there were a lot of restrictions and precautionary measures that
we needed to adhere due to Covid-19, Sheena was flexible and would help us with our difficult request as
much as possible instead of rejecting us upfront.

She proposed alternatives and was patient towards our concerns raised. She made special requests and
arranged for us to have some tables of 6-7 pax to ease our planning. Sheena also provided us with a free stay
at OCC suite, allowing for my wife and her bridal party to check in a day earlier with her extra baggage, to
ensure that all the preparations would go smoothly the next day. We are both truly grateful for that.

We were surprised to see Sheena on-the-ground with her staff, assisting and serving our guests, being a team
player and ensuring that operations were smooth on the day of our wedding. Daniel was friendly and helpful,
even during the pre-run of our event. Thanks to him, the technical aspects on my actual wedding were good.

Kumar and Lawrence were also very attentive and helpful, making sure both my wife and I were hydrated
throughout the event, and looked good for our march in.

Lastly, I would like to thank Sheena and her team for all the help and patience in ensuring we had a
memorable and smooth wedding at OCC. We appreciate it.

Regards,
Lincoln Lee
