Letter from the President

Happy New Year CYFEN

It’s a new year and our new theme for ABWA is
“Unleash your Brilliance”. What does “Unleash
your Brilliance” mean to you? To me it means
stepping out of my comfort zone. If you have
been a member of CYFEN for many years, it is
now time to step up and get involved. CYFEN
has many volunteer opportunities, please see a
board member and get involved.

I am excited about our upcoming meetings on
public speaking, speed networking and
building great business relationships for 2019.

FHPW QUARTERLY January 21st Meeting

Houston, TX - FHPW Quarterly Meeting Presentation was a panelist of four women speakers
who are successful in a nontraditional discipline – Maritime Administration. Their stories are
inspiring and they will share with us their unique paths, what they have learned along the
way, and the keys to a successful career as teachers, researchers and leaders.

The next FHPW meetings will be on April 22nd, July 22nd and October 21st. All members of
CYFEN are invited to attend these meetings to network with advanced reservations at
www.fhpw.org.

We wanted to increase CYFEN’s presence in the community this year. We did so by
participating in a new event, Light The Night! It’s a fundraiser event that benefited the
Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. We raised $500 to give and had matching CYFEN
STRONG shirts made to wear to the event.

CYFEN CHILI COOK-OFF EVENT- November 10th This quarter we enjoyed
a day full of tasting
4 several different types
of delicious chili dishes!
Each team was festive
with their own theme.

The event was hosted
at a local bar and
restaurant called,
District 249. There was
lots of space in their
back yard and it turned
into the perfect venue!
