(Daniel Chap 3)

Introduction
-Familiar story of Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego and fiery furnace
-Use story to consider what our response would be in similar situation

The Idol Threat Is No Idle Threat (Dan 3: 1-6)
-Gold-plated image set up for worship
-Bow & worship or be thrown in blazing furnace

Shadrach’s, Meshach’s, & Abednego’s Answer (Dan 3: 16-18)
-Refused to bow, stuck together.
-Other Possible Responses. . . . . .
-Soldiers died throwing Shadrach, Meshach & Abednego into furnace

God Rescues Shadrach, Meshach & Abednego (Dan 3: 19-27)
-4th Man “looked like a son of the gods.”
-Clothes not burned, hair not singed, hands not bound . . .
-God does not always rescue those faithful to Him

No Other God (Dan 3: 28-30)
-Acknowledged: “No other God could save in this way.”
-Ordered people not to speak against God of Hebrews
-Shadrach, Meshach, & Abednego rewarded

Summary/Conclusion
-Story of faith, commitment to God no matter the consequences
-Did not bow to what would be popular, did not determine survival by
what would have been politically correct
-Simply believed, trusted God without compromise

-May we have the courage to do the same
